My Fish story that was busted

I'm new to the forum and hope it is appropriate to post this story here. It is too funny not to share:

Many years ago in late spring, I took a drive up to the N.Y. Catskill mountains to go trout fishing.  I hadn't been fishing in years and didn't do any research at all.  I showed up and the lakes were all still frozen.  Somebody directed me to a local hatchery that had a pay to fish program.  I paid to fish, then paid by the pound of what I caught.  I don't remember the type of trout that I caught, but it was easier than fishing in a barrel.  The hatchery gutted the fish for me and sold me a container and some ice to travel with.  I brought the fish back to a friend's house to cook up and made up a story about hiking miles into the woods to a secret stream that very few people knew about, where I caught the fish.  The problem with my story was that one of my friends noticed that I never removed the hatchery tags from the fish, and he busted me.  I admitted the truth to him.

I fished a few trout hatcheries in upstate NY. I came in with my roostertail lures and caught a lot of fish while watching others try and fail with pellets and live bait. 

One time my crew and I caught so many we had to lose a few on purpose due to "slippery" fish not to bankrupt ourselves with the pay by pound fishing system there.

I try not to lie about anything... much easier to remember exactly what happened no matter what we are talking about.

I've fished a couple of trout farms in the NC mountains.The last time was around 5 years ago.Took 2 grandkids.The sign out by the hard road said 2.50 per pound.So we go up the holler and the farm is at the end of the road.We get bait,walk over to the pond and immediately start catching em.You couldn't help but catch one nearly every cast.In about 10 minutes I'm thinking we're about at our limit for the cash I had ( 40.00 )So we walk back to weigh in and find that we've already caught 55.00 worth.( We can't throw any back according to their rules )Then I find that the price is actually 4.00 per pound!!!. So we're way up the holler,they don't take a card,and I told the worker about the sign.He agrees and tells me to give him what I have and leave.So about that time I turn around and my 6 year old granddaughter is coming back across the road with another fish.! The worker says git! here comes the owner.So we load up as the owner is approaching and looking like he wants to talk.I don't make eye contact and take off.

Had to explain to the kids why we left so fast.Felt kind of dishonest but it wasn't my fault they hadn't changed the sign!!

One time when I was 10 or 11, my grandfather took my younger brother and I trout fishing about an hour from where we live. We spent the day on public streams, and I think my brother and I landed 8 fish, the limit is 6 a piece so we stopped by a pay pond on our way home, and selectively caught 4 beautiful, giant male brook trout, and told dad that they came from the creek!
