For all you Oklahoma guys:

i live around the Blanchard area, and minus 1 or 2 ponds, and the typical trips to thunderbird, I need to find some places to go that are fairly close. Within 30 minutes to an hour. Are there any public fishing places that aren't very pressured you go to? Even places in housing additions with ponds, as long as you don't get kicked out. I don't leave any trash behind, never cause trouble, just want some nice quiet ponds that won't have me being escorted out. I've heard of some in Norman, but have trouble finding info.  Any help appreciated thanks!

I don't live anywhere near Oklahoma, but back when I was a college student and for several years after that, I had similar issues finding decent places to fish.  Asking on forums like this might work, but there isn't any substitute for doing your own home work.

Look around on Google Earth - drive out to the various neighborhoods, look presentable and ask around.  You never know what you'll find.

Once upon a time back in the day I came across a map of all the various properties that the university owned, both in-county and in surrounding counties.   There were many decent sized pond that weren't advertised.  Generally, one professor had the last say on who fished and who didn't on any particular piece of university land.   If you want to find these places in your neighborhood you've got to put your time in.   I knew some real estate agents who appreciated semi-regular fishing reports about some of the lakes adjoining properties they were trying to sell.  They gave me access to a Jon boat kept on the premises.

There are the "close to home" fishing spots in norman but they are heavily pressured and I've never caught anything there.  I cant remember the names right now.  they are all on robinson street area east of Porter.  google it. but again, they are heavily pressured.  Google Maps is your friend.  personally, I get anxious just pond hopping, paranoid someone will run me off even if there are no signs posted.

I know of one pond in norman that I've had good luck with and if you PM me, I"ll tell ya.

I love that university idea and the real estate idea!  gonna have to look into that!

where are your ponds in Blanchard??

Google maps full tank of gas, and no fear of rejection... Find some ponds on Google Maps, then go knock on the door, asking for permission to fish.. The farther you get from OKC the more likely you are to find a farmer that is willing to let you fish his land... And it never hurts to offer to help with some work that he might need done, or to bring him some fish if he wants any...
