Getting to be prime time now with the leaves all gone and the shoreline vegetation dying back. Found a few this morning.

Quite the haul there!  Some good lures in that bunch.  Tiny Torpedo, several Rapala's, Rebel's, Bombers, and more!

That's the 3rd time I've been to that lake this fall looking for baits this fall too. There's 3 plopper baits in that pile also.

I see some Warts in there, any of them pre Rapala? That would be a valuable discovery.

Not this time but I've found several pre rap warts. There is 2 different gens of warts in there though.

I would have never imagined Kansas being the capital of treble hook lures in the US but I swear you find 100 times more lures than anyone I’ve ever heard of. I found one (1) crank bait the other day and was overjoyed

I've done the same thing in Missouri, Oklahoma, and Arkansas also. Table Rock, LOZ, and a couple small lakes in OK have been great for bait hunting and they produce really good baits because so many avid bass fishermen spend so much time on them.

Lots of cussing right there. Love the hex nut sinker.

Found another one with ‘the safety on’. This spoon was hanging in a tree.

Oh boy the old point covers still firmly installed...likely a covid band wagon angler.

Hopefully it was just someone taking a little kid fishing and they didn't want to get bit by the lure.

This year I've pulled down 3 of the little plastic fish that come in Shakespeare's little kid starter sets, all hung up in trees by exuberant little kids (I hope it was the kids!)

When I worked in the fishing department at Cabela's, one of the guys we worked with went fishing with my buddy that also worked there and kept getting bit on a store brand spinnerbait he bought off the spinnerbait tree that sat by the reel bar. My buddy said he had probably missed a dozen fish before finally looking at the bait, still had the plastic protector on it ?‍♂️

What is a covid band wagon angler?

I don't know, but they probably don't realize how lucky they were to lose that lure.

Last year when covid hit several million more people bought fishing licenses and started fishing. There was nothing else to do with all the lock downs so tons of people that had rarely or never fished started hitting it. Because of that you see alot of dumb rigs...like the hook point covers being left on. Also upside down spinning reel reeling was one I saw a ton of.

I’m glad I asked, because I thought you might be implying something else (political).

I’m well aware of the effect covid had on people fishing and getting outdoors in general, unfortunately. Going to the lake used to be my escape to get away from everything, and suddenly everything came to the lake. It got so bad at one point I couldn’t even get to the lake. I hope we never see that again. Yesterday I had the lake to myself, and that’s priceless.

I've never seen the lakes so packed as early spring of last year, the irony was thick.

I still get the lakes to myself fairly often, but that will go away soon I'm afraid.

My plan is to never go religious or political... Both are a no win way to tick everybody off.

Found 2 baits today, one so high in the tree I couldn't reach it and the other was a KVD 1.5 stuck on a dock cable.

The challenging ones are the most fun.  In all my time there is only one that is still eluding me, a Hula Popper with its hook stuck in a cottonwood branch at least 30' above the water.   I see its friendly smile every time I go to the lake.

But the ones way up in the trees taunt me. I know of at least 3 that I can't reach that have been there for a long time. One of them is a whopper plopper, and I can do without another one of those, but the other two are so high up that I can't tell what they are. Of course my imagination tells me they are expensive jerk baits, but for all I know they are that cheap knockoff Walmart brand.

If I went around and collected all the bobbers hanging in trees on the lake, I could decorate my xmas tree with them.

I took 3 trips to the lake by my house before I was finally able to retrieve a 130 plopper in the Sooner color. It was so high and so wound up in heavy braid I couldn't tear it loose. Oddly enough, found another in the same color just around the point from that one last week, also way up in a tree on a lake with not many trees on it.

I could tell this one Tuesday was an Ozark Trail floating minnow, so I wasn't going to put much effort into it.

I collect the bobbers and donate them to kids fishing derbies.

That's an awesome picture, Fin.  I don't have any trees quite that loaded up in my area.

I usually pull down everything I can, just to reduce the litter and to prevent people snagging lures on them, but I admit there are a few trees at high-traffic spots that I leave plastic bobbers on because I daydream of them as Christmas tree decorations.  But they don't have that many bobbers, that's crazy ?
