Super User BrianMDTX Posted April 24, 2024 Super User Posted April 24, 2024 I found a Whopper Plopper right by the bank when I took my boat out of the water Saturday. Two young guys were fishing nearby and asked me how I did. I gave it to them. They looked like they needed it more than I did. 3 Quote
fin Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 Anybody recognize this brand? It's got an "R" in the eye and also embossed on the back blade. The front blade has "312" embossed on it. The head has an unusual shape. I noticed it hanging way up in a tree a few months ago. It was sitting on top of the limb like maybe the line was wrapped around the limb. I couldn't tell if it was a dollar walmart spinnerbait or what. I finally got around to getting it down. 3 Quote
detroit1 Posted May 9, 2024 Posted May 9, 2024 Otter - i haven't found that many in 55 years. Nice. 2 1 Quote
Fried Lemons Posted May 9, 2024 Posted May 9, 2024 One of my lakes suffered a major drawdown and I was able to recover some stuff off a certain long rocky point. This bait was only gone for a week, snapped her off on a fish. Still good as new. This one I broke off a year ago. Covered in algae, cracked and dried out. After a good wash, a long soak in some bang spray and copious amounts of mend it, she’s back in action. Also found countless jigs and worms that were lost off that point. This was an interesting one someone was throwing. 6 Quote
WaterOtter Posted May 11, 2024 Posted May 11, 2024 Here are the most presentable of this year's accumulation so far. Ratio of keepers to trashed has been around 55% as usual. 8 Quote

I have never caught one there, but I'm sure that is where the biggest bass live, I will keep trying. 1 5 Quote

Super User Bankbeater Posted May 13, 2024 Super User Posted May 13, 2024 Some baits from a few past trips. Anyone have any thoughts on what the bait is with the ridges on it's back? I can't place it. 5 Quote
BASS302 Posted May 13, 2024 Posted May 13, 2024 @Bankbeater, Maybe a Mann's Hackleback Rooter? (I think that's what it was called) 2 Quote
wvhunt Posted May 15, 2024 Posted May 15, 2024 No lures yesterday, but I did find a KVD multitool. I was standing on the dock at the boat ramp and saw it in about 6' of water. I grabbed a rod that had a crankbait tied on and was able to snag it. It had very little rust on it, so couldn't have been there very long. 2 Quote
WaterOtter Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 Today Anybody know what the spinnerbait with the gold blade is? It has a trailer hook with a plastic on it. 4 Quote
fin Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 You've got some interesting ones there. I just bought one of those Googan Ayu jerk baits on clearance for a couple bucks a while back. That color looks great in the water, but it swims super shallow. That's probably not the original blade on that spinnerbait, seeing as how it's attached with a snap swivel. lol. I've never seen anyone put a ... trailer on the trailer hook. Crafty fellow. Edit to add: I think that's the only Googan bait I ever bought. I only bought it because it was marked down so much and I liked that color. Quote

Good point, the upper end does look like it's been redone. What intrigued me on that spinnerbait is that the construction with the hair and tape looks classic, but it's not aged. I did a brief search now, and it's probably a muskie lure, which also makes sense for it's size. I found it on a very small lake that was dredged last year, so now it has a small well and was stocked with pike, but people are losing huge, deep lures, so it looks like they think the whole lake was dredged and it was stocked with fully grown fish. WaterOtter Posted May 24, 2024 Posted May 24, 2024 A first for me, today I found a lure in the lake that was still in its unopened packaging. (Actually, it looked like someone threw it in the lake along with their empty wrappers) 3 1 Quote

I can't say I've ever done that, but I once found a brand new Jackhammer with the hook guard still on it. I have caught a ton of fish on it since. I caught one on it this morning actually. It's one of those lucky lures. 1 Quote
WaterOtter Posted June 3, 2024 Posted June 3, 2024 As I've said before, when I'm out I pick up trash to build up good Karma for the week, and sometimes Karma rewards me with a nice lure ... well today Karma rewarded me with so much more!! 4 1 Quote
WaterOtter Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 Found a Gan Craft 128 Yesterday. Probably the priciest lure I've found. And today I found the 6th can floating in a lillypad patch, so now I have the whole 6-pack! 😆 2 3 Quote
PaulVE64 Posted June 16, 2024 Posted June 16, 2024 A few years ago I looped my braid to bone white whopper plopper around a dead tree limb about 30 ft up. Well I was fishing there today and it's gone. The whole dead tree is gone. But I found a topwater today. 1 Quote
Bazoo Posted July 6, 2024 Posted July 6, 2024 I've found a few here and there, need to get a picture of the decent ones. I found both of these a while back. The craw cleaned up good. It must be lucky, I let my boy fish it one day a while and it came back home with us! What is this tube looking thing? I've never seen anything like for bass, so I surmise it be for a another species. Interesting I found at the local heavily pressured lake... probably someone in the military that was stationed here from elsewhere. 2 Quote
WaterOtter Posted July 7, 2024 Posted July 7, 2024 Hi Bazoo, looks like a saltwater lure because of the heavy hook, possibly galvanized finish, and the tail looks like it's possibly imitating squid. I've never seen these, but I find saltwater lures occasionally in my Michigan lakes, I think because in heavily pressured lakes people try to find something new to get the fish's attention. 1 Quote
