That's an H2O Xpress crankbait from Academy. They make a handful of surprisingly nice hard baits for a store brand once you swap out the hardware. Nice find!

Ha, now the logo makes more sense. I’ve never used them before but I’ll have to put some hooks on this guy for sure

Found first lure of the year yesterday.  Stopped by the lakes to watch the ice skaters and fishermen, and when I stepped into the woods for a nature break, this was in the bush right in front of me.  No idea how it got there, ~30' from the lake shore.  Sometimes it seems like I'm living a charmed life.  ?

Hey, I found one just like that last year in Michigan.   That's cool!

Found what looks like a Duckett BD Shad 4" in green shad earlier this evening. Hooks badly rusted off and tail isn't in the best shape, but can't turn my nose up to a $20 lure.

Found a rebel crickhopper while trout fishing, was In a tree with 20lb mono attached.

Opposite for the swimbait I found. Couldn't have been more than 6-8lb mono.... Not surprised he broke off.

Wow, I like running light line on swimbaits for more action but that's another level

A minor triumph yesterday.  I've been watching this Hula Popper for over a year and a half, dangling from the tip of a cottonwood bough waay up over the lake.  There was no way I could reach it from shore or from my kayak, so I patiently turned over the challenge in my mind... I went by two weeks ago with my 24' window-washing extension pole, and standing on my tippy toes on the ice I could just barely touch it with the tip but I couldn't knock it loose.  (I can touch an 8' ceiling, and the pole is 24', so it was 32' up there.)  So, I went home and tied a garden claw to the end of my pole, and with some trying I got it down.  I'll replace the skirt and display it in a place of honor.

I walked a short stretch of bank Saturday and found a half dozen baits. Only 1 exciting bait, a 100 pointer, but almost all the paint was knocked off it. I believe one is a very old Rebel Wee R, I'll have to get a picture and let one of the Rebel experts confirm.

I'm playing around with ideas for displaying my most favoritist lures, so I put my "minor triumph" Hula Popper in a shadow box.  I can't find many good ideas online or on bassresource, so I started a new thread asking for display ideas.

This one has been lost so long the chartreuse color has faded away on one side. I’m totally okay with that.

This is an Academy H2O lure, and it’s either a floater or suspending. I’ve never seen one of either in the stores. I’m very happy to have it.

Lucky find too, because it was sitting right where people stand to cast all the time, and it's obviously been there a very long time.

Interesting, was it floating when you found it?  It looks like a Rattlin' T 5/8 oz. lipless crankbait, basically a rattle trap.  I've never seen a floater or suspending lure before that ties on top.

I like H2O Xpress lures, I have a bunch.

It was tangled up in some brush at water level, upside down and almost covered by a branch. It was hard to see, but the color caught my eye.

I put hooks on it a little while ago and put it in water, and it’s definitely a floater. It seems like it has no weight at all in it. It doesn’t even have rattles. I don’t think Academy even sells them anymore.

Floating and suspending lipless crankbaits are available, but not very common to see on store shelves. They work a little different, and someone not used to using them might be disappointed if they bought one unknowingly. They take a little getting used to. They all tie on at the top.

I love the Academy lipless too, I have a bunch and have lost a bunch myself.

When I was young and fishing on my own dime. I had a 13' fiberglass river boat with a 1970 20hp Johnson. Lure hunting was a favorite pass time of mine. When the river was low was always the best time to find the good stuff. Now that I'm older it's still a bonus when I find something nice. Last lure I found was a Huddelston  8" swim bait. Hooked the line with a crank bait, dredging it off a point. It came right in like it was never hung up at all. Maybe it broke off with the dreaded backlash cast off. The hook was still sharp as new so It hadn't been there long. So if you're the guy that lost it in Lake Juniper. Just know it went to a good home.

Now on a side note. In my late 20 to mid 40's I was an avid scuba diver. I worked on a Golf Course and started diving to get golf balls for the driving range. That paid for my gear and classes plus a bunch of other stuff. I had a dive partner with a boat and spear fishing was our thing. We dove all the hot spots we could out of East Pass in Destin Fl. I grew up in Destin so a lot of my friends were charter fishermen. Well my partner and I decided to do a "lead" dive. So I modified a 5 gallon bucket and borrowed a 75lb lift bag from the local dive shop owner. We went straight to the Liberty Ship. As the name implies it was a WW2 Liberty Ship that was sunk as an artificial reef and it is a heavily fished. With in a few minutes we had more lead than the lift bag would float. Two trips to the bottom we had a little over 100 pounds of egg sinkers in the 12 to 16 oz size. We took them to the harbor and sold all of it for a buck a piece. If you've ever bought lead it that size range you know it was a smoking deal. It was all gone in less than an hour. We even took a few orders for more. Gas money was less of an issue after that. People say that scuba diving is an expensive sport. I beg to differ I made enough money to support my scuba habit. Now I was far from a commercial diver, just a guy with a side hustle to help make ends meet.

What is that lipless? I've never seen one like that.

Looks like an old Pico Perch to me.

How about loss and found?

I fish a big lake in northern Quebec. Pike, walleye and rainbows are the primary species. I fish a Rebel Spoonbill for pike and walleye. I had one Spoonbill that worked better than all the others on both species until I lost it on a troll. I knew  where I hung it but was not able to see it or recover it.  I did miss that lure.

Two years later I'm trolling the same shoreline. The water was much lower than usual. As we're trolling my son looks down and sees my Spoonbill. We recover the plug. It needed hooks, rings and a little soap but other than that it was in great shape.

A few months later I'm trolling a lake in PA for Pike. I hang on a snag and pull the snag up. There in addition to my plug there is a second Spoonbill!

I've looked at these as an intro to segmented hard swim baits. If you throw it will you report back on how it does?

Absolutely, honestly should have tied it on while I was out but just threw it in a bucket. I’ll try it out next weekend and give you some input. If it swims well, I think the spotted bass here will eat it up!
