I filled a Walmart sack with good bobbers (reasonably sized foam or wood ones that potentially actually use), one winter. I've still got at least half that sack left in my garage. I do like to pick up the comically large bobbers and add them to my livewell for the boys to play with. I've got a few the size of a softball in there. I pick up the big catfish pole floats too because they're the Megabass of the bobber world around here, like 5-9 bucks a piece. I really expected to find around 75-100 baits though. The first time I went out looking at this lake I covered the bottom of my 2 man with over 200 baits. I got checked by the park ranger and his eyes about popped out when I told him I'd found all of them.

The 2 chrome baits are a Strike King 2tap and a Berkley Flicker Shad. They were quite a ways away from each other. I rarely am able to successful remove a sinking lure from a tree but I was actually batting 1.000 on this day. I caught the spinnerbait and 2 of the traps as they were falling towards the water and the buzzbait landed in shallow enough water I was able to see it and recover it. The fishing pressure on this lake is unreal but it's surrounded by lots of overhanging trees also that are great at collecting people's errant cast. Unfortunately, the 1 whopper plopper I found was 3' too high for me to reach despite my 18' lure retriever and me stretching as far as I could. If my son was a little older I might have put him on my shoulders to try and reach it but I don't think his little 6 year old arms could have controlled that fully extended 18' aluminum pole in the breeze.

The 2 "Model A's" are in your Oct 20 pic. At least they look like MA's.

 

I too find more bobbers than anything else, and take em out like trash. I have a box of them and will donate them -somewhere- someday. Hey, maybe there's a bobber-fishers association somewhere and we can all send them out as a collective. A semi truck oughta do it.

 

What's really scary, was wading the Salmon River in NY (a HUGELY popular water) and seeing the ungodly amounts of line, weights, and hooks strewn about that river bed. It is truly a submerged landfill of such stuff. To clean it up, it would take heavy equipment to dent it I would think. It's a sad thing to see. Another reason I stopped fishing there, years ago now.

I wouldn’t blame you if you thought I made up these rigs, but I swear they are just as I find them. This is a Jackhammer with a snap swivel attached to the jig instead of the blade. It looks pretty well used too.

 

I haven’t been finding as many lures this year either. A lot of the people fishing this year aren’t using lures. A lot of them aren’t even using rods & reels. Plastic bottles and sticks seem to be more popular around here. Yesterday I saw a stick propped up by a pile of rocks with old fishing line leading out into the water, and when I pull it up, it has a plastic worm and a fluke on the end. No takers, apparently. ?

I love lure hunting in my kayak.  Eventually I started to realize that I was catching more lures than bass, and my time fishing was declining while my time lure hunting was increasing.  Eventually I started leaving my poles in the car because they were getting hung up in the bushes as I poked along the shoreline, and I only used them for opportunistic fishing when I saw jumping shad.  And then at some point I started leaving my fishing poles at home ...

In 2017 I realized I had found over 100 lures in about 4 months, so I started keeping a log of my paddles and how many lures I find.  It can be eye popping when you keep count!

I have found several over the year and I always give them away.  One of my superstitious pet peeves, never fish with another man's lure.

 

The coolest one I found this year was a Japan import from Imakatsu.   It looked like it had real fish scales.

I don't think I found as many baits as in past years, but I think I'm good with the terminal tackle.  I'm not going to need another weight, bobber, or snap quite a while.

Found a Yo-Zuri squarebill, 2 hollow body frogs (sitting on the bottom), a Boomerang snip tool, and a whole Plano Magnum double sided tackle box this morning. The tacklebox was empty, thought I hit the jackpot for a minute.

@Bluebasser86 inspired me to get out and hike around my area lakes and look around for lost lures and it’s a good excuse to get some exercise. This was my haul today, as you can see mostly bobbers. But, can anyone spot “Where’s Waldo style” the major find? I was pretty excited about it.

Is it a real MB 110 or a different company/KO? One of the few MB 110s I own I found under an undercut bank.  I found a Boomerang tool a few weeks ago too but it was too far gone to save. I walked yesterday and found mostly older and cheaper baits but also found 2 whopper ploppers. I gave them away to a guy that asked me what I had been walking around for who said he never had been able to spend the money on a plopper.

Winner! And yes it was a real deal Vision 110 Jr. in GP Pro Blue. Not to sound like a snob - know it all, cause I’m not, but this person could not have picked the worst lake to throw this lure. Muddy water, brush everywhere, no boat access. They were asking for it. Poor guy, it looks like it had just been pulled out of the package and lost it on the first cast. No one was around or else I would have asked people if they had lost it.
 

Cool story on the Ploppers. I bet it made that guy’s day.

It's great to be out on the water again, now that the ice has cleared up and I can get my paddle into the water.  Here are the "show worthy" lures I found in March.

My wife asked what kind of fish eats pink mice with no hair?  I said it must be a kind of fish that climbs trees, because that's where the guy was fishing for it.

One of my favorite things to do while kayaking finding lures while out fishing.   I recently decided to build a shadow box with my found treasures. I haven't done it yet but will towards end of the season.

I hang my treasures on rails I put on the wall, made out of the "groove" edge of cheap flooring.  First I used leftovers from a job, then I found I could buy a box of the cheapest flooring for $20 and rip the planks on my table saw.  The hooks grab onto the rails easily, and the lure hangs lightly against the wall so I can turn them to pose them.  After a while I painted the rails white to match the wall.

I use the metal shelving brackets like at lowes and do the same thing has the slots in it works great

I've been slacking. I've got a pile of baits on my table in the garage of baits I've accumulated through my trips this winter and haven't posted any. Found a couple LC cranks, a Berkley Frittside, a couple more ploppers, and probably the coolest was finding the jerkbait that a friend of a friend lost the week before that he'd caught his PB on 2 weeks prior. It was a custom painted bait and I was able to get it back to him. I also caught a whole Lew's spinning combo on a crankbait this winter.

I found this washed up on shore today with about 6 feet of line on it. Must have come off on a cast and then eventually floated to shore. Hooks are still sticky sharp and good so maybe not long ago.
