Hez Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Bought my son one of these for Christmas to try them out. We shall see. Quote
"hamma" Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 WOW, a 2 speed spinning reel? looks cool but maybe a bit heavy. Probably a great saltwater reel,...anyone try this yet? Quote

Djf3864 Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 I have one of their rod racks; well built, looks nice, easy to assemble, light weight and holds a descent amount of rods. Quote
OddChase Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 I've seen this brand for awhile now but never committed to looking into it. Looking forward to learning more about it. Congrats on the new sponsorship. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted December 2, 2016 Super User Posted December 2, 2016 It'll be nice to have a low priced option that also has good support in the US. You don't get that with many "off-brand" imports you see on auction sites. 1 Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted December 2, 2016 Super User Posted December 2, 2016 Looking at their Amazon store, I'm seeing a 6oz. baitcasting reel with 16.5 lbs. of drag, 11+1 bearings, and dual braking (magnetic and centrifugal) for only $60 shipped. Talk about value packed! Quote

Talk about value packed! yeah thats kinda what concerns me, how well is it put together ? what are the gears made out of ? there has to be a downside. if not looks like ive going to be pretty brand loyal. going to wait to hear from others. Super User J Francho Posted December 2, 2016 Super User Posted December 2, 2016 They're a carbon frame (graphite), and gears are brass. We'll be testing them shortly. Quote
hunterPRO1 Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 the price tag on the braid is very nice 7 minutes ago, J Francho said: They're a carbon frame (graphite), and gears are brass. Super User J Francho Posted December 2, 2016 Super User Posted December 2, 2016 I have some braid on the way as well. Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted December 2, 2016 Super User Posted December 2, 2016 I have had my eye on the Kastking Sharky II for awhile. Once I read Roadwarrior's link and found out about the company was started by some Syracuse University entrepreneurs, I bit the bullet and ordered one. Happy to support the sponsers as well as my fellow NY'ers. For the price it will be hard to beat a 10 bearing waterproof reel with brass gears. 2 Quote
dkal24 Posted December 3, 2016 Posted December 3, 2016 I put their Stealth reel to the test and I'm happy with it. I also bought the Assassin reel and Fortis braid but these are still in the mail. Quote
hunterPRO1 Posted December 3, 2016 Posted December 3, 2016 out of stock for a number of things, hopefully back in by christmas, probably get a reel and some mono and braided line. Quote
dragger201 Posted December 3, 2016 Posted December 3, 2016 Haven't used 'em that long. But this year was time to upgrade my gear. Decided to try the Assassin and a Spartacus. Like 'em enough that now have 4 Assassins, 1 Spartacus and 1 Royal Legend. Don't know yet how well they will hold up over the long haul, but so far like them very much. Also got the Fortis braided line in moss green/20lb. Really like the no memory of the braided stuff and it sure is nice when work stumps and brush piles........... Keeping my fingers crossed................come spring will find out just how good this stuff is........... Quote
