Know what type of water your lake is (lowland rez, highland rez, etc), then learn and apply seasonal patterns, and get the best electronics you can afford and really learn how to use them. You will find the fish. From there it's all execution. You can do it!

I'm not 100% on the lake type.  It's an impoundment (1938) for flood control.  If I had to guess I would say it's a hill-land rez.  The one hesitation I have is that the water is typically quite stained (more than what the definition of hill-land rez suggests).  Thanks for the support!

That's my guess too.  Would the same likely be true for main lake submerged bridges and road beds?

What Intend to look for on new likes can be found across from the marina where 2 points and a cove are located. Just because thee is a marina don't over look this area. Long underwater point that extends half way across the lake with 2 underwater bridges has some good looking small flat holding areas. A small flat is where the slope flattens out for 10' to 20'. If the small flat is at the right depth (life zone*-6' to 9') LMB will stage there. The next point up the lake also has the small flat features in 3-4' depth and several smaller points for staging bass. This is another area I would check out, it's idling distance away from the marina.

The obvious features like the road bridges get lots of local pressure, may crank the rip rap in the late afternoon.

Not knowing what type of baitfish is predominate, haven't look at a sat map to see the terrain. The fact the lake is off color and old some features have changed like no creek bed definition on the Navonics map. Look for isolated rock piles or brush piles anglers have added.

Enjoy your lake, you have several others to choose from.

* survey the marina area to determine how deep the bass or baitfish are using.

This point and the small flat across from the marina is a community hole... for saugeye.  In season there's usually a handful of boats drifting through (including pontoons loaded with Amish families) dragging worms for saugeye.  I've fished it a bit for 'eyes and caught some nice ones there along with lots of channel cats and an occasional white bass.  Unfortunately no LMB so far.  But I imagine if there are 'eyes there LMB may hold on the flat too.  That flat is typically around 6-8' so I could try to run a crank bait across it.

When you say survey the marina area I assume you mean idle around watching the sonar for baitfish depths?

And thanks again.  You're input has been terrific.  If you're ever in the area, I'd be happy to get out on the water.  There are plenty of interesting lakes around that I'd love to explore.
