atxtomato Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 Hello All! I have been lurking around this WONDERFUL resource of information and I wanted to introduce myself finally. I have been fishing for about 4 months, mainly on weekends but loving every minute of it. I have been watching and reading every chance I get and I have learned a lot. I have also become a rod/reel addict! so I am wanting to see if you guys could help me associate my rod/reels to their best partner. Now some of these rods/reels were purchased second hand, off craigslist and some new. I was mainly looking at price point starting out and have bought a few pricier items as time has gone. I need help matching rods to reels and possibly weed out the stragglers/duplicates. THANK YOU! Super User A-Jay Posted November 29, 2016 Super User Posted November 29, 2016 Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ As a fairly new bass angler, who fishes on weekend the past few months, you've accumulate quite a bit of tackle (rods & reels). The thirty or so fishing trips you may have been on might not have been enough time with this gear in hand to establish what type of equipment you prefer for a particular type of presentation. My preferences may not be yours. So before making any attempt at "matching your tackle" if I may, I'd like to suggest you do the following. Put the reels on the rods, match them with the a brand, size & type of line you're comfortable with and go fishing some more. There is a decent list of variables that you'll soon discover that are reasonably important to a rigs effectiveness that go well beyond what can be effectively recommended by another angler here. They include but are certainly not limited to Where you fish, the type of structure / cover there, if you are on the bank, are you in a kayak or a bass boat, the type & size line you like, and believe it or not even your height or sleeve length. A quick look at your list indicates that you have what you need to get started. Good Luck & have fun. A-Jay 1 Quote
Super User Darren. Posted November 29, 2016 Super User Posted November 29, 2016 Welcome aboard! Wow, you are a rod/reel addict! I'll second what@A-Jay said and let those who fish a broader variety of techniques chime in on your question. I've been fishing a long time and prefer to keep things simple Quote
