Madhouse27 Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 I need to get a some of that adhesive backed black rubber diamond matting (I think that is what it's called) to put up on the top of the front deck. It's not real thick and I think that is what is used on casting decks. The pieces they sell in Bass Pro are too small, probably better suited for sticking on trailer fenders. Cabelas has a larger size but the price is $36.99 which seemed a bit steep. Any ideas of another place to try and find this stuff. The spot is kind of triangular shaped, I think about 24 inches long and maybe 8 inches wide at its widest spot. Thanks gang. Quote
Ben Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 When you find some, let me know, I've been looking for the same thing. My Javelin has it at the tip of the front deck, back by the motor and a couple of other places and I want to replace it. Tried a couple of truck shops and thought about using a mud flap but can't find any the has a pattern I would use. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted March 27, 2006 Super User Posted March 27, 2006 Well, that makes 3 of us looking for that stuff. I've been looking for a diamond plate type pattern in the rubber. No luck yet. I'll keep my eyes out and let you know if I find anything. Quote
tunnelengineer Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 You may want to try McMaster-Carr (they have a website) or any kind of safety supply store on the net. I know that's where I found the stick on tread rolls much cheaper than Bass Pro. They were the sand kind though. Never really looked for the rubber. Quote
Ben Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 I've got a whole role of the stick-on sand paper type and that in Cabela's and most every where else I've found is too thin. Mine is about 1/4" thick and has hex shape button sticking up. If anyone finds any of that, sure would like to know about it. Quote
Flatfish Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 I sure every major city has a rubber supply co.(conveyor belting, hoses, tubing) here in KC it's Hanna Rubber. They have or can order just about anything rubber, vinyl, leather, tubing or hoses. Let your fingers do the walking. Quote
Team_Dougherty Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 Try here. http://www.rubbercal.com/Comml_Matting.html Paul Quote
Super User cart7t Posted March 27, 2006 Super User Posted March 27, 2006 Here's another place http://www.xpressmats.com/workplace_mats.asp?gclid=CK7xhenj_4MCFUQxIgodKkFZfQ It was suggested I look under restaraunt supply. Quote
Madhouse27 Posted April 4, 2006 Author Posted April 4, 2006 Well I broke down and ordered the stuff from Cabelas. It was 36.99 but it was exactly what the doctor ordered. It is thick and durable without being toooo think. It has an adhesive backing and the diamond style pattern. It's grossly overpriced but I was tired of searching. I'll be posting some boat pics once I'm done changing some stuff around and doing a little customization. Quote
magic Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 BPS, Cabelas, and your local hardware type store carry a rubberized paint that you can paint on a surface to give it a rubber finish. Quote
GuideDog Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 2nd..McMaster-Carr.. I bought some to cover a PC I was modding. They are local to me..about 15 minute drive. Pretty cheap also! GuideDog Quote
Muddpuppy Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 You may be able to find something that could be made to work at an auto parts, tractor supply or a trailer dealer. Something that is used for saftey steps or even a mat in a tool box. I have seen utility trailers with mats and sideing in them that might be made to work and we have had some in horse trailers to protect the doors and walls about that thickness, that used on the floors would probably be way too thick. A company that sells safty equipment may have something also. I think mine on my boat is the grit type. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted May 3, 2006 Super User Posted May 3, 2006 I was at Home Depot back in the flooring dept. and I found some stuff on the roll there. I think it was around 2-3 ft wide and the price was somewhere between $3-5 foot. You'd need to come up with a waterproof spray adhesive to attach it. Had a nice pattern on it similar to the rubber mats that Triton has on the front of their boats. Quote
fire22driver Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 I replaced mine with a thin gauge stainless steel diamond plate, and riveted it in place, should outlast the rubber, although now there is something else to shine. Quote

There's an adhesive in the same section that you trowel on that works very well indoors or outdoors. It is the stuff that you put on the back of astro turf...basically a little thicker than rubber cement. It is pretty cheap too. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted May 5, 2006 Super User Posted May 5, 2006 Boy, just when it looked like I couldn't find any of the stuff I found another source. http://www.candomarineparts.com/Page2147.htm 6" X 12" pieces. Different styles. You'll need an adhesive which they sell. 8-) Quote
