aprestonSEK Posted November 26, 2016 Posted November 26, 2016 I am in search of a 6ft 1 piece UL for crappie fishing. My budget is $150. I plan on using this rod for casting road runners and maribou jigs. Any recommendations? Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted November 26, 2016 Global Moderator Posted November 26, 2016 I have a 6' Avid Ul but I wouldn't use it for those baits, it's too light even to set the hook on a crappie. I prefer a regular light for those baits unless the jigs are tiny, less than 1/32oz. 1 Quote
Loomis13 Posted November 26, 2016 Posted November 26, 2016 Look at the st.croix panfish series! Premier also. But I prefer the panfish Quote
Super User everythingthatswims Posted December 2, 2016 Super User Posted December 2, 2016 Field and stream tec lite is only $50 and I PROMISE you it won't disappoint! I have a 6'6" 1 piece light action that I use for trout and panfish. Quote
Super User Darren. Posted December 2, 2016 Super User Posted December 2, 2016 And like @everythingthatswims on less expensive rods, I can wholeheartedly recommend Bass Pro's MicroLite spinning rods. I've got a 5'6" L travel rod that is more like a ML power, and now a 6' ML. They are excellent rods for the money. Caught many smallies and perch. Plenty strong yet plenty light to cast lighter lures. Quote
Outdoor Zack Posted December 3, 2016 Posted December 3, 2016 Ugly stik or lower-middle range shimano rod paired with a nice pflueger reel would be a great little panfish/crappie rod. Quote
smr913 Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 AVS60LF would be a good fit. It's $180 but I'm sure with a little looking could find it around $150. It only weights 2.5oz. Quote

But I prefer the panfish This!^ I love fishing for sunfish and crappie and this rod is the best I have used and I have used a lot of different rods. The BPS MicroLite Graphite used to be a close number two, but they have changed the rod completely and I haven't fished it since they changed it. Quote
