Heron Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 Is it normal for Megastrike original to have no detectable scent. I don't smell anything. Quote
Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted November 16, 2016 Super User Posted November 16, 2016 ditch that stuff and get some Pro-Cure , best scent/attrachtant on the market .... 2 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted November 16, 2016 Global Moderator Posted November 16, 2016 I've never tried smelling it, but I don't really use it for the scent so much as to lube up the bait. Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted November 16, 2016 Super User Posted November 16, 2016 One of the many attributes of MegaStrike is a very mild scent. The consistency makes the product especially user friendly I have been using MegaStrike for more than a decade and NEVER fish soft plastics without it. Although I am not convinced the scent attracts fish, I do believe fish hold a bait longer. Give it a try and see for yourself. . 4 Quote
georgeyew Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 The original version that I have does not have much of a smell, the Crawfish on the other hand is very strong smelling. I have both, but I currently prefer the original due to the lack of scent (doesn't stink up my hands or the car). Quote
Super User JustJames Posted November 16, 2016 Super User Posted November 16, 2016 I feel the same that why I like original scent which doesnt stink as bad. I dont even have to wash my finger after applied it like other stuff. Is it really work? Dont know, but it help boost my confident and thats count. Quote
Super User WRB Posted November 16, 2016 Super User Posted November 16, 2016 MegaStrike being a site supporter and the fact Bobby seems like one of the good guys, never met him, I have used this product with good results on drop shot, T-rigged and slip shot worms. Edge Hot Sauce is a very similar gel type attractant and don't see any real difference between MegaStrike and Hot Sauce, both work. Pro Cure gel Trout scent is what I use on my soft plastic swimbaits like Hudds simply because I know the stuff doesn't degrade them in any way and I catch fish using it. If you like stronge odors try Smelly Jelly, it works and last forever, the only thing that removes the odor from your hands is original Colgate tooth paste. Don't like any attractant that is sprayed. I only use anise oil with garlic on my pork rind trailers, no gels to gum up the skirts. Tom Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted November 16, 2016 Super User Posted November 16, 2016 Like others have said, the original doesn't have much of a scent, but the craw scent is much stronger. Quote
Super User MIbassyaker Posted November 16, 2016 Super User Posted November 16, 2016 I am skeptical of many claims about bass attractant products, but there is no inherent reason why something that attracts or makes fish hold on longer would have to smell like anything to you. Your olfactory system is capable of detecting certain varieties of airborne chemicals. A bass olfactory system detects varieties of chemicals dissolved in water,. We don't know for sure the full range of olfaction sensitivity in either humans or bass, but there isn't any guarantee of complete overlap between the two. 1 Quote

You can't concentrate if you think odors are repelling the bass. Tom Quote

Hot Rod Johnson Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 I alternate by using Edge Hot Sauce Fish Attractant and Megastrike Fish Attractant in the Crawfish scent. Both seem to work really well for my types of fishing. Quote
riverbasser Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 I use original mega strike and I can't taste a thing haha I mainly use it for texture. I even rub some on my jerkbaits when the fish get real picky. I think it gives the bait a fish slime look Quote

The original Megastrike fish attractrant does not have a noticeable odor. Your tube is not defective. Quote
Smokinal Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 As others have said, the original is odorless and not defective. The original, odorless version is not meant to be an attractant like many scented products are. It is an amino acid product which a bass can taste once the bait is in the mouth, therefore making the fish hold the bait a hair longer than he would without it, giving the gunslinger that split second longer to stick him. It can also help cover human scent, Mountain Dew spilled in the tackle bag etc... Quote

RyneB Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 I have two tubes of megastrike, one has a strong smell and the other has no smell. I mostly just use it when I'm punching to help it slide through the mat better. the other day I was missing a bunch of fish on a tube, they were hitting fast and letting go, when I put the megastrike on they seemed to take the bait better. still missed a few, but percentage went up.
