Is bass fishing done up north??!!

I live in Minnesota and I was on a steady fall bite from the beginning of October until the end of November.  But now I just flat out can't catch fish.  Comment if you know of any patterns or techniques that have been catching you bass up north.  Thanks

well i caught a 3lbers lastnight near philly. but yeah it has been very slow for me lately. maybe it was because of the super moon but im thinking it was because it was the warmest part of the day. But even as it gets colder im sure there will be a partsof the day where they will be active or will bite if a presentation is close enough for them to react.

I've slowed down too, here in ohio. I got skunked last night. I only had a couple hours until the sunset so I missed the warm period.  but I couldn't get em going on nothing. I was using cranks and an in-line spinner.  I tried shallow running floaters, suspending jerkbaits with and without rattles. While I was doing this I heard a huge blow up topwater. I had nothing to lose so I tried a rage toad. I had one explode on the frog but it just went flying in the air. That was my excitement for the evening. 

I agree October and September were hot ! I had a couple 10-15 fish days.

 I've fished till the ice starts forming around the lakes edges, and the line begins freezing to the rods guides. Then,... its done.

Ned rigs and paddle tail swimbaits for smallmouth and paddletails for largemouth are about the only thing that is working for me the last few weeks.  Presentations are sloooow, still having good days, but the fish are definitely more picky.

I winterized my boat and hung 'er up in late October but its still been very unseasonably warm around here for November.  I haven't even had a frost at my house outside of Minneapolis yet this fall and that historically happens Oct 8.  I see a couple days near 60 this week but there's a big storm with potential rain/snow mix coming later this week and then nothing but 40's next week so I think winter is coming and open water fishing is all done unless you wanna head to a river.

Wait it's the end of November? Crap I always fish on Black Friday to get 2 bass for one deals.  Just kidding. It's time for jerkbaits, bladebaits, slow dragged swimbaits and the a-rig. I love this time of year and catch some real slobs. Just remember to slow everything down.

Not in Northern Lower Michigan.

Sunny, Warm & light winds today -  Air temps in the mid 50's & w/t's mid 40's. 

Fished a lipless bait like a blade bait - low & slow.  Smallies liked it.  

Hard bottom areas were best.

In all seriousness though you can still catch fish. Water is getting into the 40's now in MA which means they will definitely be slowing down but the right techniques can still produce fish. I got a 2.5 off a hudd 68 pretty shallow (bank fishing) a few days ago. Water couldn't have been any warmer than 50.

I'm in MA and fish the southeast part of the state.  I've not caught any bass the last three times out, just picks, perch, trout, and one salmon.  I'm hoping to get out once or twice more this week, but we'll see.

Fishing in Maine and Vermont is still good.

Plenty of good bass to catch. This past weekend in Vermont 3- 3 3/4 lb smallies were biting, silver buddy was working. Yesterday in Maine the crankbait bite was good even though the water was a bit chilly at 45 degrees. Jigs also work in the fall.

Fishing will be good until ice up. Get out there and fish !

Fishing isn't over till lures start bouncing off the water.  The ned rig, small bucktails, blade baits, jigs, and suspending jerkbaits (if the clarity holds up) are about all you need during the late fall/winter.  Target steep dropping shorelines and points where the channel cuts in close to the bank.

Here is a cool article that bassmaster published in 2012 about fishing the Connecticut River in NH during the month of November. "Catching 20-60 quality bass per day is not uncommon" and "About a third of the smallmouth weighed in during our two tournaments last November were at least 4 pounds." are pretty convincing arguments from this article that fishing is still on up North until the water freezes over.

Water isn't frozen yet. Last Friday it was 64 degrees and the fishing was excellent. Sadly though after 6 inches of snow sunday night and a very disappointing long term weather forecast the fishing forecast looks grim for me. It isn't going to be out of the 30s here for a week. Forecast is for more snow this week and next. Not Good. My boat maybe done for the year. That is sad. Friday the fishing and weather were fantastic.

Like the Cleveland Browns season its over to soon. But rejoice my fellow anglers, next year is just around the corner and we will be back to terrorize fish throughout the northeastern part of the US. Until then there are lure, rods, reel, line and boats to buy, articles to scan, tales to tell and pictures of past conquests to share. Celebrate the past but welcome the future.

With the snow we got here and the relentless 25-30mph winds whipping through I am ready for spring 2017!

Now comes the hibernation period of watching fishing vids and shopping deals on fishing equipment till I can fish again.

Got a new auto PFD on sale and will be getting a fishfinder on black Friday. I will be building a motor mount for my canoe and a DIY fishing crate to store my rods and gear when I am on the water. That will keep me busy until the lake freezes or I take a trip way south.

Now it's just a question of which I'd rather have, fish or near-frozen hands? Soon will be that frustrating transition from soft to hardwater, where no type of fishing is possible. Hopefully there will be some ice in January though.
