Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted November 9, 2016 Global Moderator Posted November 9, 2016 7' MH/M Composite Cranker from Academy. $60 for full price but they go on sale often. I mainly use mine for squarebill to mid depth baits but have used it for bladed jigs as well. 3 Quote

Super User fishnkamp Posted November 9, 2016 Super User Posted November 9, 2016 Here are a couple of options. My first suggestion would be the most expensive, but it fishes much more like a $200 rod then a $100 rod. Look at a Dobyns 705CB. It specs as a 1/4 to 1 ounce lures. The lures suggested for this rod are crankbaits, jerkbaits, rattle traps, Sammys, spinnerbaits and squarebills. This rod sells for $110. Hopefully that is close enough to your budget. Maybe Tackle Warehouse will have a black Friday sale and then I would jump on it. All Dobyns rods are well made, balance well and have good components. They are really light too. My other suggestion is to get a Falcon Bucoo Trap Caster. It is a 7 foot medium heavy rod and rates for 1/4 to 3/4 ounce baits. They suggest the rod works well throwing buzz baits, crankbaits, rattle traps, spinnerbaits. I own the same rod in their Bucoo Micro series, which runs a little more money. You can go to this link and get a Falcon Bucoo ( the model with standard guides) for $99.00 and they offer free shipping. Pick the BCC-5-17 7 MH Trap Caster for $99. I catch bass, stripers, and sometimes big blue cats. I think this rod would do what you want for a decent price. Go here: http://www.*.com/Falcon-Rods-Bucoo-p/falconrods-bucoo.htm. Quote

Super User NHBull Posted November 10, 2016 Super User Posted November 10, 2016 I too will be in the market this Winter.....after all the rigs I tried this summer a 7+ med, moderate will in my sights Quote
Super User fishnkamp Posted November 10, 2016 Super User Posted November 10, 2016 If you read my earlier reply I suggested two 7 foot Medium heavy moderate action rod. If you wanted to fish only small to mid sized cranks the medium moderate would be my choice. Check out the two rods I suggested, they fish the lures you want to fish. The BPSA Crankin stick are okay, but read their specs. There is not one exact rod that will work all of the lures you want to throw. Quote

Super User fishnkamp Posted November 10, 2016 Super User Posted November 10, 2016 Tackle Warehouse offers the rod in two versions. In the standard version (regular guides) it is this model Falcon BuCoo 7' Med Hvy Medium Fast 12-20 1/4 to 3/4. It runs $109. If you go to Monster Fishing Tackle they are selling it for $99. They identify it as the Trap Caster Model BCC-5-17. Go here http://www.*.com/Falcon-Rods-Bucoo-p/falconrods-bucoo.htm Tackle Warehouse sells the same rod in the Micro Guide series. Look at the 7" Med Hvy med-fast 12-20 1/4 to 3/4. This is the rod I own. TW is selling it for $129 Quote
Bruce424 Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Lews perfect crankbait rod. Or a bps crankin stik Quote
BrianSnat Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Last spring I bought a Fenwick HMG, 7' Medium, moderate taper baitcasting rod. It has proven to be an ideal rod for cranks. I think I paid $90 for it and I've seen the HMG cheaper on sale. Quote
