I'm looking at the giant dog and xpod Jr. Other than the pivoting jaw is the xpod any better of a walking bait than the giant dog? I have a gift card coming to me and I was thinking about grabbing one of each or 2 of the same in different patterns.

Haven't tried the Xpod but the Giant Dog walks really well and really easily

From what I can tell, I'd go with the Giant Dog if you're looking for just a walking bait. The Xpod walks nice, but not as good as the Dog. But if your looking for versatility, get the XPod. Walker, popper, and you can swim it quick and get it down half a foot.

Between the 2 lures you mentioned, the dog walks much better. The xpod was kind of a gimmick as far as the jaw goes, but it will walk fairly easily, just not like the dog.

The bigger Xpods are better than the jrs. The jrs do not stay on top of the surface veth well for me no matter the position of the bill. Another vote for the Giant Dog X

Dog x by a large margin for me.  I was not much of a fan on the x pods, but the giant dog x is the easiest walking pencil bait and they can't resist that thing when the top water bite is on.

For walking, the pop max is hard to beat, especially if you add an O ring
