Looking for a new pitching rod.

I'm looking to get another pitchin rod so i'll have one rod for jigs and one for texas rigged plastics. I fish braid 100% of the time, so i want a heavy power rod but one with a soft tip. My budget is around $100-$120. Anybody got any recommendations?

Depends on the length you'd like, but the dobyns fury 735 is  a fantastic rod for around that price range. It's a mag heavy but the tip on it is fantastic for what you would want.

Take a look at several options from Dobyns. First i would automatically suggest their Fury series FR 765Flip. It speaks for itself.  Go to Dobyns rods and check that one out. It is a nice stick for $110. It will feel and fish more like a $200 rod.

Next if you want a rod a bit shorter than check out the Fury FR735c Mag hvy. Both rods balance well and feel great, have good components and are affordable. 

lastly I would say a Falcon Bucoo 7'3Hvy.   It is sometimes referred to as the Amistad rod. This rod is about the same $110. It is available in a standard and a micro guide series.

I know someone who has a Bucoo, it's a bit stiff for my liking. Is the Dobyns that stiff ?

The dobyns fury 765 is very stout, as it is a flipping stick. The fury on the other hand has a very nice soft tip but plenty of backbone.

I love my Abu Garcia Veritas 7' MH for light to moderate pitchin' and flippin. With braid it will pretty much tackle really heavy cover applications as well. I'd go with it, it offers either micro guide or standard guides, depending on your preference. With braid I would go with standard guides since in clear water scenarios you need a fluoro leader.

To jump on the Dobyn's train:
What I am about to tell you comes from Rich Dobyn's mouth. Their flipping action is softer than their extra fast, but faster than their fast (which it seems like most think is faster to begin with). Furthermore, they softened up the fury series compared to the savvys/sierras to make them more versatile.
So my question is which is softer, the Sierra FLIP or the Fury FLIP? 
But this is purely just being picky and knowing the deepest of truths. If you want a shorter rod, get a 735 not a 765/6FLIP. If you don't want to shell out more than $120, get the Fury.

Hey Robert Riley thanks for answering from the horses mouth. My friend Kris and I belong to this and another web board. I new the sponsor of the other board loved the Dobyns products. He even runs a Dobyns' forum. What was really cool was Kris asked him about the Fury 765 rod. because he wanted one. The owner of the board answered him, and we expected that. We did not expect the very next response, it was from Gary Dobyns himself. He answered my friend's question and gave some interesting background about that particular rod. And yes he explained about the slightly softer tip on the Fury. Wow to get that kind of information from the owners is cool in my opinion. I have had interesting conversations and help from Dobyns, Powell and Irod in the past. They truly do not mind personally answering your questions on the phone.  Bu the way we both kinda like Kris;s new 765Flip. If my darn boat could fit it in the darn rod box my dealer would have lost the other one from his inventory the same day. I am stuck with 7 footers only. Too bad!

After all the recommendations i'll definitely put the Fury into consideration, i wish retailers around here carried it so I could test it myself but as far as i'm aware they don't .

How far from Southaven Mississippi are you? There is a Sportsman Warehouse there. The website says they have that Fury in stock in their system  Call them up and see if it is in stock in that store. 662-349-5500. If it is not in stock, I bet they would order it in for you to see.

I've never heard the phrase "answering from the horses mouth." haha
But it agree, it's pretty cool talking to Rich or Gary. What has really stuck to them is how they are customer oriented. I remember I wanted to get a Champion spinnerbait rod, and they weren't afraid to talk me down to a cheaper rod. Which looking back, was a definitely the better idea,
