Alan and George were both there and sang together.

Had prayer meeting that night, only caught from the Oak Ridge Boys on.  Channel surfing too.  Sounds like I missed the good parts.  Was Fla/Ga/line there?  If so, glad I missed that!!!

The only newer country song I like is Huntin  - Fishing...by Luke Bryant.

I've been more of a bluegrass/ mountain music fan for years now.The new  " country " is mostly pop music with a banjo occasionally thrown in, stupid , non creative lyrics , many songs now include a rap and hip hop leaning ,and the songs mostly are about getting drunk and immature silly relationships. And the songs aren't about country things anymore.Havent checked but I d be surprised to find out that this kind of music is selling very well.

Here is my take on country music today. It had to change. Country stations were on the decline until new country came along. New country is more popular than pop right now. More radio stations have changed to new country in the last 5 years than any other format. If country music was to become popular again it had to become new. It had to become more like pop. It had to change to attract younger music listeners. Younger listeners didn't want the old country that I grew up on. Names like George Jones, Glenn Campbell and Ray Price didn't translate to many young people. They needed their own country stars and their own country music. Much like younger people listen to Green Day and not so much Elvis. Elvis is as close to rock&roll today as Tammy Wynette is to Maddie & Tae. Music changes to reflect the times and the young listeners. Happens in every genre of music.

No doubt this is true; just don't much like it.

Beyonce and the Dixie Chicks have taken social and political positions that don't represent those typical of country music fans.

Willy Nelson fans might disagree....

But I have always liked the hippy side of country, Gram Parsons is an eternal favorite:
