Super User roadwarrior Posted November 3, 2016 Super User Posted November 3, 2016 Why would these women be featured at the Country Music Awards? 3 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted November 3, 2016 Super User Posted November 3, 2016 Not sure about Beyonce (I don't listen to her music, but assume she's a typical Pop/R&B artist), but the Dixie Chicks fit the profile. But even beyond that, when have "music award" shows ever featured anyone other mass appeal artists? And who cares? Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted November 3, 2016 Super User Posted November 3, 2016 Beyonce and the Dixie Chicks have taken social and political positions that don't represent those typical of country music fans. 4 Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted November 3, 2016 Super User Posted November 3, 2016 The only correlation I can come up with is that Beyonce, the dixie chicks, and new style country music all suck. 12 Quote
Turkey sandwich Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 I'm ticked that Wheeler Walker Jr got snubbed. 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted November 3, 2016 Super User Posted November 3, 2016 I do not know WHAT that was - but it wasn't something I want to ever hear again. Usually not a fan of combining artists - but I did enjoy this 2015 CMA collaboration between Chris Stapleton & (believe it or not) Justin Timberlake A-Jay 2 Quote

Perhaps they could ask Toby Keith to host as well. Does Beyonce have an arch nemesis? If so, they could ALSO host. 2 Quote

Super User soflabasser Posted November 4, 2016 Super User Posted November 4, 2016 Older country music is good music to listen to when you are fishing. 1 Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted November 4, 2016 Super User Posted November 4, 2016 ...are both terrible. Oh, I thought we were supposed to complete a sentence with the title. 5 Quote
Super User Gundog Posted November 4, 2016 Super User Posted November 4, 2016 I never understood the point of these shows to begin with. Why don't they just come out on stage sing a song. No stupid awards or funny skits. Call it the "Our tickets are overpriced, our t-shirts are cheap crap and we don't sing the songs you want to hear so this is for you the fans" show. Quote

Turkey sandwich Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 Seriously, if that award show consisted of Sturgill Simpson and Hank III performing and winning everything, I'd be cool with it. Watching Toby Keith profit off of American tragedy and false patriotism is everything wrong with that genre. The Outlaw Music Festival was one of the best shows I've been to in years. Why? Because no one currently on country radio was there. 1 Quote

craww Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 They do it to generate people talking and clicks. Nashville sold its soul long ago. We live in a weird time for music. There's good music still being produced a lot of it actually. If you know what you like it's very easy to get without leaving the house. Conversely, unless you know where to look it's harder to find Quote

Buckeye Ron Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 I quit listening to anything called country music when Randy Travis started to fade way back whenever that was. I don't even recognize the names any more. And I haven't watched any so called awards shows since the 80's. On a lighter note, since I play guitar and sing, I can make my own music.?? 1 Quote
