I am seriously looking at the new Fate Chrome model.  They look nice.  All I've read are good things about those rods, but have never owned one.

Is $110 too far outside your budget?  If you can go that little extra then look at a Dobyns Fury FR703 or FR704. The Dobyns rods are really nice. They fish and feel more like a $200 rod.

If that is too much then look at  Fishin Factory Outlet. They have a Fenwick Aetos 6'8" Med Hvy that should work well for you. They retail for $180 but are on their site for $88

Ditto on the Fenwick HMG.  I bought one this summer and love it.   If you want to go under $50, try the Berkley Lightning or Berkley Lightning Shock.

Lots of good choices in that price range. Check out the sticky that roadwarrior posted.

OP: I am willing to take fishnkamp's word on the Fury.  I like the review I read on them.  I prefer longer than 6'8" for a MH, but can attest to how nice the Aetos rods are.  The 6'6" ML is getting me to like shorter rods again.  That price is a steal.  If you can spring for $110, then I'd add the Tatula to your short list.  Check Sportsman's Outfitters for that price.

If $100 is all you can do, then I'll add my name to the list suggesting the Fenwick HMG.  I've also had good luck with the Falcon Original.  Actually caught my personal best on a 7' MH Original.
