I just got my new tatula type r in the mail today.  The spool release button is real stiff to press compared to other reels i own.   Is this something that will loosen up or is there something i can do.  Iv noticed this with other reels iv owned in the past aswell.   I know my pro qualifier do not release nearly as crisp as the display models in the store

None of my Tatula Rs have a stiff thumb bar. They are a tiny bit firmer than my Tatula CTs but about the same as my BPS Extreme reels.Where did you get it from?  Do you have a tackle shop locally that carries Diawas, maybe you can check one out in a store.

The TWS feature will feel that way.  When you press the spool release bar you not only set the the reel into free spool but pivot the level wind guide to the wide arbor position. It feels "stiff " when you first try the reel but it's normal. All the TWS models require a slightly greater thumb pressure that a non TWS model.  Put your reel on a rod and free spool and you'll see it's not as "stiff" as it feels in the hand. The rotation of the T wing is very solid. Fish it some and you'll be pleased with the performance.

Mine were the same way but once mounted on a rod it's less noticeable.
