pigeonlake Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 I just got my new tatula type r in the mail today. The spool release button is real stiff to press compared to other reels i own. Is this something that will loosen up or is there something i can do. Iv noticed this with other reels iv owned in the past aswell. I know my pro qualifier do not release nearly as crisp as the display models in the store Quote
Super User fishnkamp Posted November 3, 2016 Super User Posted November 3, 2016 None of my Tatula Rs have a stiff thumb bar. They are a tiny bit firmer than my Tatula CTs but about the same as my BPS Extreme reels.Where did you get it from? Do you have a tackle shop locally that carries Diawas, maybe you can check one out in a store. Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted November 3, 2016 Super User Posted November 3, 2016 The TWS feature will feel that way. When you press the spool release bar you not only set the the reel into free spool but pivot the level wind guide to the wide arbor position. It feels "stiff " when you first try the reel but it's normal. All the TWS models require a slightly greater thumb pressure that a non TWS model. Put your reel on a rod and free spool and you'll see it's not as "stiff" as it feels in the hand. The rotation of the T wing is very solid. Fish it some and you'll be pleased with the performance. Delaware Valley Tackle Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 Even reels of the exact same make and model often have their own "personality" and differ slightly. Doesn't sound like you have anything to worry about. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted November 5, 2016 Super User Posted November 5, 2016 Mine were the same way but once mounted on a rod it's less noticeable. Quote
