Plastic worm repair

Going through some of my worms I found that some had tails that were broken off or about to come off. Thought I would try to fix them and it worked great. I have a temp controlled soldering iron that goes down to 200C. At the lowest setting, I held the small tail in a clamp and rubbed the tip between the body and tail until both were melting the pressed them together for about 15 seconds. Done. Good as new. Hope this might help someone.

My problem is when most of my plastics rip I don't have the other pieces/appendages to put back on!!

Heat a butter knife  held I a vice, put the ends on opposite sides of the hot blade and slide down the blade bringing to 2 melted surfaces together, instant weld.

I bought a vial of Mend-It. Try it, works absolutely amazingly. No weird lumps or anything.

Good idea! You must be like me and like to tinker when your bored.

Mend-It is basically Super glue gel, can be difficult and messy to weld 2 separate pieces together and easy to repair tears.

Pretty much. I like to play around with electronics and such which is why I had the soldering iron. That's really my main hobby. I'm also a very bad amateur wood worker...

Actually ive had good luck with it repairing claws on paca craws. When i get a few that have lost claws i pile them up and take the claw off one and ment it to another. I do it alot in football season during commercials.

I've done the butterknife when frankensteining worms.  2 Tips... don't let it get sooty.  and if your a kid, dont use your step-moms butterknife.

Just sayin'...

Last time I did it, I just used my heat gun and an old pocket knife.  Worked like a charm.

Mend-It to me seems to melt the plastic back together through a chemical reaction. Then it dries back up and sticks

Personally I need more plastics to fall apart to make room for all the baits the bait monkey makes me buy over the winter!

What I have done instead of repairing lures is to use the broken bits for a different presentation. For example when a swim senko tears up I end up with a ned rig bait, and have used bits of finesse worms in the same way.

Making up some crazy color combos or some different styles of baits could be fun though.
