This is a question towards the forum members who fish in, or have fished in Utah. I'm a beginner at bass fishing, but my question is how does Utah compare to other states? What size of fish are coming out of these Utah waters? Utah seems more like a trout fishery than a bass fishery. Why is that? How is the bass fishing in Utah?

St George and lake Powell are your best bets for bigger bass. 8 pounders are caught frequently in st George. Lake Powell holds state record.

Utah is a decent bass fishing state and actually is more biologically suited for bass than it is trout, because most of it is desert country. The best fisheries are Sand Hollow, Deer Creek, Jordanelle, Pelican, Powell, Quail Creek, Starvation (smallmouth), Flaming Gorge (smallmouth), and Utah Lake. There are other good fisheries too. Average bass runs 1 to 3 pounds, with enough 4 to 6 pounders and occasionally bigger to keep it interesting. However it has VERY poor fisheries management that doesn't give a rat's butt about the desires of anglers, so bass fisheries have been killed off or severely damaged in a few places by blind hatred of bass by agencies that care more about trash fish than game fish.
