I spent pretty much all day yesterday and good part of today at Lone Star Lakes. Yesterday I fished Butler Trac with ZERO luck and today I fished Crane Lake with Zero luck. I was fishing from my Kayak, and every where I have fished prior has been way different than this place. Having banks that go from 2ft to 30 ft deep in a matter of feet has completely thrown me off. This is like no place that I have ever fished.  Someone help me out!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also I heard that Crane Lake had some puppy drum in it? Is this true? I saw a guy today snag some speckled trout, some reds would be fun!!!!

Butler Tract they usually hit Senkos. Green pumpkin weightless T-rig. Or T-rig worms. I've caught them right off the dock like that. I'm sure that would work since you can reach more fish with the yak. If not they probably just weren't in the mood to bite.

Crane Lake-again I'm stuck to the bank so it might be completely different. But I've caught Stripers, blue cats, white perch, spots and croaker. For the perch and croaker I used squid on a hi Lo bottom rig. For the Blue cats I used a fish finder bottom rig baited with cut bait. Eel or perch cut bait I marinate with garlic and salt. The striper I use live perch.

Hope that helps. my advice is from a bank fishing perspective but I should help some.

Oh and Crane Lake does have puppy drum. I've seen them caught. I've never caught one. I mostly target blue cats and perch.

Sweet, thanks for the tips. I spent majority of the day Sunday fishing for puppy drum despite being in a Bass Tournament.
