NTRotty Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 Comparison of Tracker 2006 Pro Team 175 TX to Lowe Stinger 170, any experiences with either or pro/con suggestions appreciated, starting the shopping process and these two seem to fit my needs. Welcome input from current or previous owners of either make/model. Intended use is small to medium size lake fishing for wife and I, no tournaments or large lakes, weekend outings. Quote
IL_Bassman Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 i have no experience with the bass tracker but i can vouch for the lowe. i own a 2005 lowe stinger 160 and this is a very nice boat. it has a merc 25hp 4 stroke motor and it pushes the boat at around 22-24 mph. the boat rides smooth and everything. i looked at both the bass tracker and lowe and the lowe just seemed better built to me. the lowe has aluminum decks, bigger fuel cells, and the contsruction of the boat just looked nicer but thats just my opinion. both boats looked very nice though i just liked the lowe better. mine is a little smaller than the 170 being mines a 160 but i cant imagine there is a whole lot of difference besides the size. the boat is perfect for small and medium sized lakes. it has plenty of room for 2 people to fish off of it and if u wanted to it could fish 3. hope this helps Quote
northgabassfisher Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 I have a 03' tracker tournament v-18 ( bigger then the pro team seires) and I love mine I use it for big lakes but I still go to smaller lakes I would really look at the tournament v-18 it would give you and your wife a lot more room. for just a little bit more money http://www.trackerboats.com/boat/index.cfm?boat=1770 Quote
lowe160 Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 I have a Lowe 160 bass stalker with a 50HP 4-stroke and fish about twenty tournament's a year. I love this little boat very much and had 0 problems with it. 8-) Wayne Quote
N.Jack Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 I have a Tracker Pro Team 160 TX, nice little boat, runs great, and handles like a charm! Quote
Madhouse27 Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Heck, while we're shopping why not throw a G3, Lund and a Polar Kraft into the mix. All five of these manufacturers make great boats that will fit your needs just fine. It's probably going to be a tough choice deciding which one you like the best. Each has a slightly different take on storage layout and they all have their own sense of style. In addition to comparing the actual construction of the boat take a good look at the various components on each one. Sometimes a manufacturer might skimp a bit on fish finders and trolling motors. Also look at the trolling motor wiring in case you want to upgrade to a 24 volt system down the road. There may be subtle differences in fuel capacity and livewell size. Compare the trailers as well. You may want to do some research about the actual dealership itself. You may find that one has a better reputation for service after the sale than the other. Buying a boat is fun and stressful all at the same time. Good luck and let us know what you end up with. Quote
GuideDog Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 I have a 2004 Lowe Fishing Machine 165, It's been great..Had a few problems with the Mercury 50. But other then that Lowe makes a great boat. Zero hassles at the dealerships!! They take pride in there boats and stand behind you 100%.... IMO You pay extra for the Tracker sticker stuck to the side of the boat. And a lot of what Lowe gives you as standard features..Is an option on a Tracker. Last week I ordered a 2006 Monark King 195... I looked at Tracker again..And the price diffrence was almost 1 1/2 time more for the Tracker.. But all Tracker dealers have 1 rule!! They outfit the boat to meet your needs. I wish all dealers were like that.. GuideDog Quote
Pa Angler Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 I have a 2004 Tracker Targa 17SC Deep V with a 90hp Merc. I'm very please with it. I looked at others but Trackers are all welded and for the price I got mine for the others couldn't touch the Tracker. You won't be disappointed with a Tracker. Chow The Pa Angler Quote
WV_waters Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 I spent most of the winter boat shopping. I decided I wanted Aluminum for the waters I will fish it will be more durable. I looked at Tracker, FIsher, Polar Craft, G3, Lowe and triton. The trackers are nice and much better than they used to be, good features, good storage and decent pricing. The lowe's were nice but the dealer here was not nice and I will not buy from a place that doesnt cater to the customer. I looked at Polar crafts and did not like the layout or the fit & finish. They are nice boats but just not what I expected. The G3's and Triton were very nice and very pricey. Too much for me. But the quality was high on both. The fishers are nice and I have several friends with Fisher's and they hold up great. You may want to look at the 17' Pro Hawk. Very nice boat and they are piced very comparably to Trackers. If you have a dealer close check out XPress too. I ended up ordering a Tracker in January. It still isnt here, it been almost 3 months I decided to get something a little bigger so I wouldnt out grow it quickly. I went with the Tracker Avalanche. I will let you guys know how I like it, if i ever get the dang thing. Quote
TLBassin Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 I had a 16' Lowe Big Jon with a 25 Johnson on it and it was a good solid boat. It was the first boat I ever had experience with and it was pleasure learning my boating skills with it. It was a very stable boat with plenty of room for storage and for 2 people to fish out of. Boat would get right up on plan and was very easy riding. I was sad to see it go, but I upgraded to a Stratos ;D! Good Luck with the hunt. Quote
