Is there any place that I can get a rod built online and then shipped to me.

Site sponsor DVT can help you with whatever you need.

ALX is another reputable custom rod maker, check them both out.

Keep these things in mind when ordering a custom rod:

Cajon custom rods has some sort of online process, however like most custom rod builders I think their work is ugly. Best bet would be to call a builder you like and get quotes from them. Regardless of what anyone will tell you it isn't cheap with labor and shipping involved.

a custom rod may not be cheap but with a good builder and good communication between each other , you more than get what you pay for .

having a ''custom'' rod built ''online'' is usually not a real custom rod , just your choice of thread wraps . couple of choices of guides , and a few handle configurations , etc...

You sure can, and you also end up with something much nicer than any production rod.

I have a fantastic rod builder that i use and he is very reasonable.  Check out Toms Custom Rods. He is located here in MD but has shipped all over as well.  He will help you pick the right rod blank, wraps, guides, reel seat etc.  Here is his website

Check out some of these "Themed" custom rods

He has built beautiful rods for friends of mine for over 30 years. For years I have loved G Loomis rods. I own a bunch. Because I broke one I had to accept a new on,e which is my first new rod from them in over 6 years. It is the first one since Shimano took over. I almost threw up. All cheap plastic on an IMX rod. The reel kept loosening up. Tom striped the garbage seat plastic hood and nut off, We made it a split grip choosing the new stylish Winn grips and  installed a Comfort Grip reel seat from American Tackle. The rod looks,  feels and fishes terrific. I liked it so much I had him redo another Loomis that still had the old components  I liked. Here is the pics  If you ever held  rod with a Comfort spinning reel seat then you know the reel sorta melts in your hand and they become one. This spring I had just gotten this JR721 done and spent at least 6 hours a day fishing Ned Rigs on it while vacationing on Dale Hollow. The big females had just come off the beds and were in a real bad mood. Small jigs and Ned rigs were about all that worked for those fish. They were sitting in about 15 feet of water on main lake grass beds. Most averaged 6 pounds and were both  smallies and largies.DSCN0119%201_zps7rzs65fn.jpgG%20Loomis%20IMX%20seat%202_zpspivjrm7x.

Custom rod building isn't always about personalizing the rod with fancy wraps, it can be, it's more about using the highest possible performance blanks, handles, guides wrapped exactly how you want them. Guides alone are a big reason to have rods custom made, number and type of guides to optimize performance for example.

A good custom rod builder includes shipping and warranty in the price. The best way to communicate is via a phone call followed up with a quotation from the rod builder.

My rods are built to my specifications and what the rod builder recommends based on what my end use is going to be. Free 90 day trail period and life time warranty for under $300 for most bass rods without the fancy upgrades.

Who did the build Ripp'?

Cheng, of Legendary Custom Creations. His work is some of the best I've ever seen.

I have 4 custom rods, so you aren't telling me anything I don't already know. I simply answered the original posters question.

Dude... That looks like an arms grip with the Adrena monocoque butt.  My brain is filled with so many swear words, rainbows and fireworks right now.

The term "custom" gets thrown around in some pretty loose ways. My philosophy is that form follows function so all builds focus on performance and comfort first and bling to whatever level circumstance and budget allow is second.

Quite agree. I really dislike the megabass style builds where it seems that putting the most ridiculous collection of components together in as unergonomic fashion as possible is the aim! LOL. I build my own and they're basic stripped down and as I want them. Suit me perfectly. :)

The best custom is the one you built yourself.

Once you start building, you'll never get all the ones you want built.  I think i have a dozen in the que right now.

True dat! At this point, I've built about two dozen rods. Four have been for me. Two were rebuilds of existing rods, basically for the practice. So, I've really only built two new rods for myself.

I have a tentative list of rods to build for myself. Since the rod rack I have in my car holds eight rods, I want eight custom casting rods. I have one, a BFS rod built on an Immortal blank.  The problem is, the list seems to change every time I think about it. Quite the first world problem, is it not?

Mine doesn't change, it just keeps getting longer!  This is my que, off the top of my head.

2 ISB822.5 spinning (guest rods)

ISB822.5 spinning extended to 8'

7'6" 4wt built as spinning

Those 4 have the grips and reelseats glued up.  One was actually wrapped and fished for 2 years but no finish applied.  It needs rewrapped!

XSW68MX casting for topwater

2 Bushido SJ7'2" 4-8# for panfish

Seeker 705 crankbait rod

Rodgeeks C473MHXS spinning for tubes

4SW70MLF as BFS

5S610MXF-G casting for jerkbait

5SW70MLF spinning   cause..... pearl white St. Croix.  'nuff said!

5S76MLXF-2 G spinning to replace my 1pc Avid model.

5S610MLXF-G spinning for dropshot cause you can never have enough DS rods on deck. And I wanted a green one!

Mine keeps getting longer as well. The real problem is getting it down to eight.

i think this may be like my attempt to reduce the number of tackle bags and boxes I have. I sold stuff, gave away stuff, traded stuff for non-fishing stuff, and at the end of two years had more stuff than when I started. I believe that can be declared an abject failure to achieve the goal.

The eight rod concept may very well be doomed.

Scott, I like your list.

now stop putting ideas in my head you,  you,  you enabler!
