IdahoLunkerHunter Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 Just wondering what other people's favorite flippin lure is in thick weeds/driftwood/gunk. I have been using a sweet beaver t-rigged and it has been working great. Ocassionally I have been throwing senkos but they haven't been working as well. I caught a 16" bull frog yesterday, LOL, picture soon to be posted. Quote
Rattlinrogue Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 My favorite flippin' lure in any cover is a 4" tube. Quote

Super User Maxximus Redneckus Posted May 30, 2007 Super User Posted May 30, 2007 For flippin i usaully go with a 1/2 oz jig in blue with a zoom chunk in brown BUT if im flippin to isolated stumps i might flip a t-rigged zoom lizard in black with a blue tail Quote
Brad_Coovert Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 For thick gunk, I like a bait without too many legs as they slide through thick stuff better. Large flaps help move water, but still sldie in the cover. Sweet Beavers, flipping style tubes, Paca Craws, bullet head jigs with slender trailers, etc. Brad Quote
flyphisher # Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 T-rigged trickworm w/ 1/4 wt. is one bait you dont here much about, but it works and goes through grass like a snake.... I like a 1/8 or 3/16th bullet weight pegged on a beaver type bait in openings and around edges, makes it flutter like a wounded bluegill. A Yum buzzfrog also is good for this kind of stuff. You can put a bead above your knot if you are getting to much trash buildup... Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted May 31, 2007 Super User Posted May 31, 2007 When flipping ( I pitch mostly) my confidence is highest with a jig/craw by a long shot. Quote
IdahoLunkerHunter Posted May 31, 2007 Author Posted May 31, 2007 Here is the picture of the frog Quote
Ky_Lake_Dude Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 T-rigged 7-10 inch ribbontail worm, 6 inch Zoom lizard, and 4 1/2 inch Strike King Flippin Tube Quote
bassman00012 Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 Nice shirt. I have the same one, and I like to use a 4 inch tube. It is my BEST lure. Quote
bubbler Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 I like to pitchared or smoke shad wave worm senko into heavy cover. It is harder because you needto find a hole that has already been made. this kinda hole could indacate a rocky bottom where a fish is sitting there suning itself. Quote
CK14 Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 my go-to bait would be a baby brush hog, but lately i've been having a lot of fun on GYCB kreatures. Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 This one is kind of a believe it or not... My buddy and I went fishing last year and we were pitching at a long line of reeds. Well we threw beavers, and jigs, and some other bulky stuff, and were getting nothing. I was getting frustrated and pitched a big spinnerbait in making some noise. As soon as it hit the water a bass crushed it. Ever since my friend and I have been pitching spinnerbaits. Quote
John J. Posted June 3, 2007 Posted June 3, 2007 I usually either throw a chatter-bait or spinner-bait and weive it in between the pads or weeds or for plastic lures I use a YUM Dinger or senko wacky style, or if it is real thick vegetation I will texas rig worms. Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted June 3, 2007 Super User Posted June 3, 2007 d**n....Thats a big frog. They don't anywhere near that big up north. Quote
