So I got a McStick in the mail, from Spro, and it has some funky treble hooks. the front two look like they were partially snipped off, and the last one is bent. I'll try to post a picture later, but has this happened to you with any other baits?

Nope. Sounds like you got a defective one to me

It happens even with a good company that gives you nice black nickel plated hooks you might get a defect on a hook like a bend or a treble with one hook longer than another I figure the baits are mass produced so they probably have boxes and stacks of trebles being put on each bait There's bound to be a defect here and there.

just email them i'm sure they'll send you another

You might call them. I thought the same thing with a buckeye jig that broke on my first hookset, they never replied... I still need to call them. Obviously not a huge deal, I have other jigs, but it was obviously a defect

This is kinda what I'm talking about, this is a rick clunn squarebill not the most expensive bait but the hooks are usually pretty decent this one here looks like one shank is longer than the others.

McSticks have Gammy round bends, something isn't right with your bait/hooks.

You got this directly from Spro, or was it used?

Directly, about a year ago from a team order.

I'd take it up with whomever handles the team orders.

I'm just gonna tell them about it when we do the next one. I've already changed the hooks on it and whatnot. It was definitely a surprise, didn't even notice until I caught this big guy.

Hard to say if it actually came bent like that - could have happened while fishing.  The broken middle hook is weird, though.

I'm pretty sure that was my first time fishing it, but I could have fished it before.

Honestly, it looks like it got caught on a car seat or something, and they were nipped off after pushing the hook all the way through.

Just replace the hooks and move on... the bait works throw it at the same time you'd throw a husky jerk.
