jr231 Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 Anyone else like this show ? I know it's drawn out and somewhat predictable.. but man the opportunities Jeremy wade gets is unbelievable. Alot of risk involved. But he has to have the best job in the world. Travels around the world and catches all of those monster freshwater fish ? Some of those fish are crazy!!! Like the Wels catfish.. some of those could eat you no problem... and the Goliath tiger fish!!!?? They hunt in packs!!?!! Ha-ha. He lives a wild life. I love the show.. haven't seen any new ones in awhile.. I've seen all the episodes... twice. 5 Quote
Super User Senko lover Posted October 27, 2016 Super User Posted October 27, 2016 I've watched quite a few of the episodes and really enjoy them; it's definitely my kind of show. 1 Quote
Super User MassYak85 Posted October 27, 2016 Super User Posted October 27, 2016 I LOVE that show. I'm not a huge fan of the whole "detective" aspect of the show, but Jeremy has an insane commitment to fishing. Hearing the behind the scenes stuff about how he goes weeks sometimes without catching the fish he's after....and meanwhile we complain about getting skunked once. 2 Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted October 27, 2016 Super User Posted October 27, 2016 Love the show. I'm also a fan of the show "Chasing Monsters", which is pretty much the same as river monsters, just not quite as dramatic. 2 Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted October 27, 2016 Super User Posted October 27, 2016 River Monsters is by far one of my favorite fishing shows since I enjoy fishing for large exotic fish. 5 hours ago, MassYak85 said: I'm not a huge fan of the whole "detective" aspect of the show, but Jeremy has an insane commitment to fishing. Super User N Florida Mike Posted October 27, 2016 Super User Posted October 27, 2016 the Chernobyl episode is the weirdest. Probably seen all the episodes 3 times or more. 2 Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted October 27, 2016 Super User Posted October 27, 2016 I like that show as well. It would be cool to travel the world to do that. 1 Quote

That is a weird one !! Not many people could say they fished there ! Ha-ha but I don't know too many that would dare to anyway. My favorites are probably the arapaima, the musky (which I believe he finally catches drop shotting a small minnow) , hell I don't think there was one I didn't like. When he was catching those bull shark in Florida's freshwater ?! Pretty sure it was the biggest male ever recorded In that location. I think he also caught that huge grouper that episode, what an awesome fish. 3 Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted October 27, 2016 Super User Posted October 27, 2016 Great show. I watch anything fishing related, River Monsters, Monster Fish, Chasing Monsters, Wicked Tuna, etc. Love them all. 4 Quote

I like it when it's actually a mystery what the fish is he's after....but sometimes it's a little obvious and it feels unnecessary to drag it out. 1 Quote

Where he talks about a plane crash and getting malaria amongst other things.. Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted October 28, 2016 Super User Posted October 28, 2016 You may be right. I've never heard mention of family from him. One of those goofy bachelor Brits, wandering the globe like he's indestructible. 1 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted October 28, 2016 Super User Posted October 28, 2016 Can't stand the show. Full of sensationalist bull. Pretty run of the mill for cable. I'd rather watch Dahlberg. Now there's a guy with ACTUAL cajones. 2 Quote

He's definitely on his own path by himself through his whole career as a fisherman it seems, guess he was too focused on that and never settled down. I mean you hear him tell stories about getting nearly arrested while fishing in countries in civil war and such like the Congo, he was certainly not worried about someone else back at home from the sounds of it. The dude is definitely passionate you have to give him that. 2 Quote

That's a tall task for any fisherman 1 Quote

Not to mention he invented the Whopper Plopper and a bunch of other crazy baits. He flyfishes for huge pike, while standing on top of a ladder, while he's in a boat. Oh yeah, and he's caught his share of catfish too if that's your thing, including a estimated 400 pound Piraiba in the Amazon. 3 Quote

I've seen him catch electric eel, piranha , sting ray, arapaima, tiger fish, lamprey, musky, sturgeon, and a few others that I can picture but can't name.. yes, alot of them have been catfish but that's because there are so many different unique species of catfish that inhabit the rivers around the world. and all of them were awesome ? Lol . So i don't know how it's a bad thing. He can only catch what exists.. The point of the thread was to asked who likes the show ? I don't know why we start talking about someone else . 2 Quote

I don't know why we start talking about someone else . We answered, and suggested a WAYYYY better show. Dahlberg also pays for his own trips, has only one sponsor, Shimano. Doesn't spend much time pimping the gear, but shows you what he's using and why. Made his fortune from inventing a trailer material called Flashabou. You clearly haven't seen it. I suggest watching several episodes and compare it to River Monsters. River monsters teaches you nothing about the fish or fishing, just dumb stories about people getting eaten. There's a some great stuff with him catching wolf fish in a creek. The musky shows can't be beat either. Quote
jr231 Posted October 29, 2016 Author Posted October 29, 2016 You're right I've never seen it.. I'd love to check it out . What channel does it come on? I agree that river monsters really doesn't specify on how he catches them... a little .. but not really. WHAT I THINK IS COOL IS ALL OF THE SPECIES HE GETS TO CATCH. Alright Mr dahlberg is more informational. And more successful financially? I could care less how many sponsors someone has or how they got where they did. The only way it would be better (to me) is if he caught ALL of the species that wade has been recorded catching and showed how he did so. 1 Quote
