I'm going to upgrade some of my spinnning rods and was looking at the Fenwick Elite ML. Does anyone have any experience using this rod? If not any other rod suggestions? Is the St Croix legend that much of a better rod? I don't mind spending the extra money if it's worth it. Any info. Is appriciated.

I can't comment on the Fenwick but I have as legend tournament bass,6 10" drop shot rod that I love.I leave just south of you in York county and fish the susky a lot and this rod will handle almost anything I fish on the river with a spinning rod.

I don't have any elites, but I regularly fish 3 fenwicks (aetos, hmx, and hmg) 2 spinning, one casting, and I have never had any issues with the rods. I think fenwick makes a solid, reasonably priced rod.

I'm a Fenwick fan and the elite tech bass line up disappointed me. They are good rods but they added some power to them as well as weight and while far from heavy they lack the feel that the elite tech smallmouth series had. If you would be able to find an elite tech smallmouth is the 6'9" ML-F I'd say go for it, it truly is a rod that I would have been happy to pay a lot more for. I don't know what weights you are going to use or types of baits but if you like a ML power, the St. Croix Avid X 7' ML-F is a wonderful rod, it is perfect for all light finesse applications, soft enough for drop shot fishing but not so soft that you can use it for other techniques as well.
