HardcoreBassin Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 I run Helix 7 SI units on my boat. I've been looking at the Navionics and Lakemaster cards. What are your thoughts on them? Does either one have a benefit over the other? Navionics+ is $199 for maps of US and Canada, whereas Lakemaster is a regional card, coming in at $150 for 9 regional states. I used to do an annual trip to Canada, but haven't done it in a few years, so I'm not sure if I'll ever use Canada maps. The only state that the Lakemaster card does not have is Maryland that I may be interested. Does either have better quality maps? Can I put the SD cards into my computer prior to fishing and preset waypoints for areas that I want to fish? What are the pros vs cons of both? Thanks! -Dale Quote
riverbasser Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 I use lakemaster. I've never had navionics on a finder but I do use there website to scope out places on computer since you can use it for free. I have a helix 5 and I really like my lake master chip. Great coverage in my area and 1ft contours. The thing that always screws me up between the two is that navionics shades the deepest water white and shallow water blue. Lake master is the opposite. Dark blue should be deep, that's just how my mind works 1 Quote
Super User slonezp Posted October 27, 2016 Super User Posted October 27, 2016 Lakemaster has customizable options when used in a Humminbird. Navionics does not. Making sure the lakes you fish have coverage on the card should be your first priority. I have both brands and prefer the Lakemaster in my birds. The custom options include depth offset and depth shading including shallow water hazzard 1 Quote
