Super User N Florida Mike Posted October 24, 2016 Super User Posted October 24, 2016 So my best friend wanted to get his old bass hunter out of his yard.I was glad to take it off his hands. Now I have a Jon boat ,yak, and now the hunter.Had it out for a test run with my 40 pound thrust tm.The battery was too low so I didn't go far. It is very stable, has plenty of leg room, will fit well in the back of the truck, and has chairs. If you have one and have any tips or accessories info.please let me know.Seems perfectly for my lake and other small water bodies I fish. Thanks, Mike 4 Quote
crypt Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 find a stik it anchor, small portable depth finder. also get the best battery you can, you'll find yourself using it more than you think. I use my brothers all the time, don't even think he knows it's not at his house anymore !!!!!!!! 1 Quote

long island basser Posted October 25, 2016 Posted October 25, 2016 Mine is over 20 yrs old and still going strong. i like running the TM on the bow for easier mobility and I'd recommend upgrading the seat. It is very comfortable and as you mentioned very stable. Here is a pic of mine from a few years ago with the only other upgrade being the FF, which is now a Garmin Striker 7sv. 4 Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted October 25, 2016 Author Super User Posted October 25, 2016 I'll try the TM in front.Love that seat! Quote
"hamma" Posted October 25, 2016 Posted October 25, 2016 I've had one for over 30 years now, I use 2 motors, and 2 batteries. I kinda center the seat, and I have a old hummingbird wide eye with a permanant base on it. I use a cheap home depot spring type wood clamp to attatch the transducer to the rear seam from top and bottom sections,.or its version of a rub rail.. Mine is the 8' model and fits in my truck with the tailgate up, no straps or ropes to tie off (truck has a cap). Im currently thinking up a way to attach a minn kota powerdrive trolling motor to the front. so I can steer with my foot,, This is gunna be tricky,...but nice 3 Quote

CalDeltaBasser Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Hi Mike. I just bought the same one, Bass Hunter II 8'. In Calif we have to have it registered if we use an electric motor. the form wants to know the year it was built. was wondering if you know if the metal tag on the boat with the id number will tell me this. the number is BKH01769 D505 (maybe the d505 is dec 5 2005?? any help would be appreciated...tks Ken in Oakley Ca Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted November 11, 2016 Author Super User Posted November 11, 2016 I don't know...that's actually a good question.I ll call the friend who gave it to me tomorrow and see if he knows. You could try googling it in the meantime. Quote
Rick Boggs Posted December 27, 2019 Posted December 27, 2019 Hello Mike I see your from the place I grew up as a teenager Jacksonville Fl. FYI .I just purchased the exact same boat as you have the oldest of the Bass Hunter Boats .But I have a little more history about these great boats at one time 1970's there was a Appliance store on Beach Blv. across the street from the Alhambra Dinner Theater.Any how The owners were a older couple who owned the store as kids we would do odd jobs for the people we called Ma & Pa Bramel. Well Pa Bramel was a sharp older man who switched from selling Appliances To Motor Cycles Dirt Bikes were the new thing after a while he started selling Boats It was at this time he had invested & helped create what was called then & is still called the Bass Hunter two man boat with people he new in Georgia .These boat were all of us kids dream but were a bit high end for us kids back .But he would let us take them over to FJC 's pound to try & drum up sales . then I think they were $300 out the door never had a chance to get one back then .So when my friend out here in Northern Ca. said he had a small boat would I like to check it out I said sure When I saw the Bass Hunter he had nothing but the hull no seats it was like seeing a long lost friend .So now I am trying to find out if this old BH was one that my old Friend had sold or helped invent so long ago .I have only found That Bramels was out of Business in `81 the number on the metal Capacity plate is 82-001 model BHEC II I think that means that mu boat maybe made after he sold his interest in the boats as it says they were out of business in `81 what is yours marked at I would bet yours is one of the boats sold by Pa Bramel as your in Jacksonville as was his shop .ps. your last name is not Huelette or did you go to Sandalwood HS.? Great fishing sure would like to fish back there again one day .what are the numbers on your metal plate ? Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted December 27, 2019 Author Super User Posted December 27, 2019 Hey Rick. Yeah I’m an ol Jax boy. Grew up way down on the south side near mandarin. Went to wolfson. Last name is Barnett. I don’t know much about my bass hunter. I bought it used from a close friend. The markings on it are very faint. It actually has a crack above the water line in the front where the trolling motor mount is. My 40 pound thrust TM put too much strain on it. I can’t come up with a good way to fix it, so I’ve just been using the Jboat lately. I fished the FJC pond too and we caught some in there nothing big though. That security guard there was a pain. He ran us out the second time we put a boat in there. No sign saying you couldn’t fish there. Also fished the unf pond with the island . Never did well for bass there, but we caught a lot of bream. That is sad to hear about FJC & UNF at FJC we used to use bread in the ditch near the old police academy back way to Sandalwood HS. Catch 10" 12" shiners & knock the mess out of nice Bass 7,8 lbs just about every trip & a friend caught a 11 lb.Problem at that lake back then was a massive 12 ' feet long Gator that was always taking our bait snapping lines or on occasion swimming in with the line only Opening it's mouth about a foot away from shore when we went out in a boat it was never far away .Had to watch a guy lose his black lab one day Signs every place no swimming Gators Dude threw a stick his dog went after it & that was it .I am sure everyplace has changed in the past 34 years or so there was a great pond Crystal lake it was called over near the channel 17 TV tower & Bluegill for days out at peanut butter hole near Regency Square mall So do you live on the Orange park side of the river or the Julian Creek side? If I am recalling the area right But Green cove springs was still my best place for specks & Nice size Bass Is Pelham's fish camp still around ?.Can you see any markings on the plate that gives capacity ? You might try this method to fix your BH. it involves using a heat gun with a new plastic welding compound they use it to repair yaks out here it seems to work very very well.the early boats were filled solid with foam so it should be ok unless it is holing the water like a sponge.I say use it till you can't load it thanks for the info .Did your friend ever tell you were he bought it ?what year? thanks & good luck with the Big Winter time Bass they are out there ps. I am mounting a big old Jazzy power chair seat on my BH very comfy .A new seat would cost nearly as much as the boat & hell it fits very well Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted December 28, 2019 Author Super User Posted December 28, 2019 I’ll try that fix for the hunter. I had several other suggestions that I haven’t gotten around to trying yet either though. my friend didn’t say where he got it- I think he bought it used also... I’ll check to see if there’s any ID on it and let you know. Yeah I remember that big gator in the FJC pond. My Jboat turned over in there once when I had a large friend with me one day. Didn’t see the gator but the security guard showed up pretty quick as we tried to make it to shore... That lake at the 17 tower went by a different name back then that I can’t repeat on here... The peanut butter hole that I knew about was a popular hole that we’d go Muddin’ in . But the one we went to was at the sand mines near Southside and butler. There were some big bass in those lakes too! I grew up on the Julington creek side of the river and used to fish it a lot. Back when Mandarin was still country. I don’t know about Pelhams-I don’t get over there much anymore. Quote
Rick Boggs Posted December 28, 2019 Posted December 28, 2019 Oh yes I do recall the other N ames That is the same name I believe it was called by most of the people I knew that was a time when it was just the way it was Drive through Liquor stores, with set ups for how many minors with the one 18 year old driving Ha Ha .Midway Drive In have they all went away as well Yes PBH was at South Side & JTB When I was last there they had just pushed JTB over to the other side of town there was nothing but road to haul -SS on& that dam toll to no place What was the water over near the mall called ? So 30 + years I got Julington Creek off a little Julian Creek is close .Nice to talk with you what year did you get out of HS.? Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted December 28, 2019 Author Super User Posted December 28, 2019 Haha the other N ames- you remember. Yeah I know about the liquor stores back then- my friend ran into the big oak at parental home Rd and Bowden.! After drinking too much wild turkey on a hot Saturday working at a farm.I came out with a broke thumb was all. Still hurts when I use a bait caster!! Haven’t been drunk in over 37 years now though... The road to nowhere? Maybe you mean the Dames pt bridge over the St Johns river.? Yeah I don’t think there’s any drive ins left anymore. How long since you were here last? I was class of ‘78 from Wolfson HS . Went to Fjc and Florida after that. Good talking with you too. Your name sounds familiar but I didn’t know too many people that went to sandlewood back then. Wow that is funny odd after two DUI's & wrecking two cars in 6 months the last Black out drunk on Wild Turkey Hit the small pine trees just before Slippery Dip on Bch Blv. I Finished my School with State of Fl. At Arthur G.Dozier School for Boy's Class of `82 After getting out in April moved out West to Ca. I have just celebrated my 36 th year without any drink.Had a couple kids Girl now 35 Boy 31 a Widower & Now married again Went To School as a older student had got my degree in AJ .Law enforcement/Wildlife Protection & Enforcement. So your a little older & I was a little dumber But being sober made me smarter then ever being a father made me care more then ever now as a grand father has made me more aware of the passage of time then ever before .So yes those of us lucky enough to have learned our lessons of life's Big Mistakes can now spend our times doing things that let us know how important the good things we learned as a child were to pass on to the next generation as we age .Fish on Brother .If we don't learn from our past we are doomed to a future of repeated failures.Rick Quote
