skno Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 If that mithchell 308 lasted you 20 years, why not another mitchell? 1 Quote

I have a couple. i also have some symetres, a nasci and some siennas and sedonas. All of the shimanos are smoother than my presidents. And i also hate the plueger knob, it feels so cheap 13 hours ago, Jeff H said: I agree with you except I think they are over rated more than a little. Have had 2 Presidents and a Trion, don't care for them. They work, but like priced reels from Daiwa and Shimano have proven better to me. I buy the Tournament ZX reels (Daiwa) from Cabela's now instead and they have been great. Never paid more than $50 for any of them, got 'em all on sale and they've been stellar performers! I dont think the Pfluegers are overrated at all. Nope, not one bit. I think theyre just that good and of great quality. They receive excellent reviews for a reason. I rarely hear about anyone having problems with Pflueger reels, yet I frequently hear about problems with Shimanos. Mostly that Shimanos like to stick and freeze up, and mostly its on hot days seems to be a common trend. Well, most of my fishing occurs on hot days during the summer and I need my gear to not lock up and stick. I started buying Pfluegers with a Trion of which I had read no reviews to take on a trout fishing trip with my uncle, I love that reel. Then got a Supreme and it blew me away. Next was two Presidents and I haven't looked back since. No problems with my Pfluegers at all. Quote
Onvacation Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 I'll be out somewhere in St. Charles county bank fishing this weekend and you are more than welcome to try out my wife's Supreme XT . I think it's an awesome reel that's why I almost always have it with me. Quote

I have a few Mitchell's in my arsenal including an old 1960's 300 all metal with the clicking retrieve. All have served me well, from the Avocets to the 300 XE and I believe I caught my PB largemouth on a 300 X Other reels I like are the Pflueger President and Trion, Shimano Sedona and Lews Speed Spins. 1 Quote
