As the title states, nearly an entire tube  of Liquid Mayhem exploded in my tackle bag, coating a small side compartment and its contents in the stuff. Contents include some tools. Has anyone had to get this stuff off before, and if so, what did you use and how? Any and all help  and suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Thats no good.  I would try cleaning everything with simple green maybe?

Does the stuff do any harm to baits if a thin coat was left on them? Could you just wipe the baits down and rinse in warm water to get the bulk of it off and call it good?

I hadn't thought of simple green but that's as good as place as any to start.

It actually didn't make it onto a single lure, it was a brand new tube. The lid must have popped off somehow, the rest is history...

It's a brand of bass attractant, you slather it on a lure and it's supposed to attract more fish. I never got to use it...

Not that I have found, I regularly leave it on cranks and soft plastics after a trip. I do have a scatter rap crank that does have a red tint to it now, but other than that have seen no issues.

Curious how it exploded? did it get crushed or some other way. For getting it off baits I have just run it under warm water. The only down side to that with the tools is that you should reoil them after they are cleaned up. The simple green to get what the water rinse didn't sounds like a good idea.

For the bag I would handwash it in a sink, that stuff is seriously strong and I wouldn't want it going through the washer even without clothes.

Hopefully you were able to salvage some, it is really good stuff.

Holy smokes that's a smell you won't soon forget. I got some with the LTB this month and it smells just like JJ's Magic.

I got some JJ's on a small tackle bag once and basically sprayed it down with Ammonia, let it sit a while, then hosed the thing off real good. It seemed to do the trick.

I'd say any mild detergent, and a LOT of rinsing would take care of any hard baits.

I feel your pain brother... dropped a jar of JJs in the garage recently.  Smelled like an Italian restaurant for 2 weeks.

Water, scrubbing, dish soap/degreaser, more water, more scrubbing, more water.  Let it air dry in the sun.

Godspeed. :/

Thanks for all the input gentlemen, I really appreciate it! It was in my tackle bag, stuffed into the passenger footwell for our move from Toronto to Tuscaloosa. I must have squished it somehow because the top was open. Only a week before was when I pulled the foil seal from the top of the tube... I'll have to pick up another tube or two sometime soon and actually use it this time.

I think I'm going to soak the bag in some diluted simple green (love that smell!) and let the tools soak in some full strength stuff after a hot water bath.

Thanks again!

I'm late to the party but I would just tie a rope to it and throw it out in the water when you are fishing. Kind of like chumming. Keep a bucket for it on the boat or on shore to store it in when you move. Pretty soon it will come clean and you will have caught more fish! Think of the scent trail you are going to leave...
