Greg Harris Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 can this http://trackerboats.com/boat/index.cfm?boat=1880 thake a front and back deck? Is it stable enough support me and my brother (Im 160lbs and hes 100lbs) standing up. Quote
hipster_dufus Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 yes it will hold u 2. i suggest u look for a jon with a wider bottom Quote
bassnleo Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 I have a 1648 and it is definately stable for 2. Just my opinion, if you can afford to go a little bigger and welded as opposed to rivited, you'll be happier in the long run. Quote
Triton_Mike Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 I agree with all of the above. Wider and higher sides if you can afford it. If you can't afford it personally I would hold off until you could. If your really gung ho in getting a boat now I'd get a shorter wider boat than the longer skinnier boat? I fished out of a 1242 for years with a 30hp and caught a boat load of fish out of it. But I'd go for atleast a 1442 or 1448 or a 1452 would be even better. Mike Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 I agree w T-Mike. I would save a little more or go with a wider 12. (width and gunnel height go hand in hand when evaluating sizes)(in other words, you won't find a 1236 with higher gunnels, you would move to a 1242) Quote
bipr8 Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 That would be no problem. I have a 14" jon (not as wide as that) and I have the entire thing decked out. I am 210 and my dad is 275. Only on 1 occasion did we sit REALLY REALLY REALLY low in the water. That was with a full live well, and a huge amount of gear. This jon DOES NOT have a gas motor on the back (it does have 2 electric motors and I have 5 batteries on the boat). Quote

Holy Smokes... get a hole in that and your gonna be waving goodbye to it as it sinks to the bottom. You are WAY over it's Max Capacity. Quote
Rattlinrogue Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Wide base and deep sides as everyone has advised is the way to go.Add a good foot control TM and a medium portable outboard and you'll be fishing places the big boys don't dream of going! Quote
