PDBass Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Has anyone fished at Disney in Orlando the last couple months? We are staying at Fort Wilderness and I plan to fish on my own, without a guide. We are only there for a few days so there will not be any time for extended fishing outings in or out of the park. I have seen conflicting reports about the fishing regulations. As far as lures, I plan to take some worms for texas rigging and some weedless topwater. Are there spaces between the weeds for topwater stickbaits, or is all weedless the way to go? Or any other info about Florida fishing in early November. Thanks Quote
Brayberry Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Not a huge help here, but I fished some of the ponds VERY close to Disney World in February, and did well with a swim jig and a soft plastic swimbait Quote
jr231 Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 You can fish inside the park??? Last time I was there... about 5 years ago.. I was almost 19. We took a boat ride across some pond to the other side. And at the dock was a nice bass chasing small bluegill. I was drooling at the thought of those (what I thought was) untouched bass. Quote
Onvacation Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 They have cracked down on the fishing since the alligator incident a few months back. There used to be "no" areas, very few "yes" areas, such as some parts in Fort Wilderness, and a lot of, do it until someone tells you not to areas. Now it is mostly don't go near the water. There is hope though. Orlando is my favorite destination spot for fishing.....I'm headed back in February. There are tons of bodies of water to fish and the Orlando Parks department does a stellar job of working with the state to manage many of them. There is also this little lake known as Toho that you might have heard of. Shoot me a PM if you need a guide suggestion. Also check the south forums. Myself and many others have posted specific Orlando info. I should have mentioned, Disney does have guides, but I assume you were looking at heading out on your own. Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 Just got back, there are a lot of no fishing signs up now. I did not check Ft Wilderness, but the signs are all over the place at the Pop Century/Art of Animation, Polynesian and Grand Floridian resorts. No signs (yet) at Caribbean Beach resort, or the Port Orlean's resorts. I meant to check more resorts but those were the only ones we went to look at... I frog fished at night a few times at Caribbean Beach's lake and nobody bothered me. Quote

crypt Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 fished west lake toho in the wind today. holy crap it was rough !!!!!!!!! moved into shingle creek early and caught a quick limit. nothing to write home about. 8 lbs. only 21 limits were caught. 88 fishermen 2 over 8 lbs. not a great day. wind was howling all day. reports from a lot of guys that the water was muddy everywhere they went. very few made the run to kissimee. same results. we need a break from the high winds. slight breeze is ok but this howling needs to go away. 1 Quote
Super User geo g Posted October 30, 2016 Super User Posted October 30, 2016 Go to Turkey Lake right by Universal Studios. It is part of the Orlando Park and Recreation department. It is a limited access lake with boat rental trackers donated by BPS. The rental is only $25 and only T/M power. The lake has big bass and a variety of structure, vegetation, and depth changes. It is a natural lake with a input stream and exit creek. You will need a rental reservation on line for the boat, although you can fish from shore free. I have fished it at least 8 times and always caught fish of various size up to 8 pounds. It is the best rental deal in the country. Only 8 boats a day allowed on the property, all catch and release and no live bait. Don't miss this opportunity if you have a chance to go. There is a contour map on line which helps in your prep. 3 Quote
Benjamin New Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 Went out today and the wind was definitely going after about 10 am. We hit the mouth of the creek and I caught 2 and a bowfin. I missed one early on a frog. Only thing I got bit on was a senko. 2 Quote

Wow that's shocking. One would think the fishing would be better in Toho since so many +8 pounders come out of there. Maybe the fishing is tuff because there is a large amount of fishing pressure+less than favorable fishing conditions?Makes me appreciate my small waters more since they are always producing me good sized fish, even though it's less common to get a +8 pounder from these places compared to Central Florida lakes. 3 hours ago, Benjamin New said: Went out today and the wind was definitely going after about 10 am. How big was the bowfin? They might not be as popular as a bass, but they are fun to catch.I personally would prefer having a day catching a bunch of big bowfin compared to a day of catching a bunch of runty bass. 1 Quote
Benjamin New Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 4lbs, decent size. Toho is full of biggins but when the conditions are like it's been it's a little tougher. when it gets that windy I usually fish the mouth of shingle creek. Never caught a real big one in the creek though but I catch keeper quality fish often enough. 1 Quote
crypt Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 some of the guys I talked to say finding clean water was the main problem. high winds didn't help but mostly water conditions were tough. 2 Quote
Benjamin New Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 fished off the bank of toho today and caught a 6 lber off the boat Marina. The conditions are still rough water clarity is poor but the senko came through for me again, just in a bigger way. 2 Quote

jr231 Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 Ha-ha good luck ! I can't find them anywhere . DSG, bass pro, cabelas .. no one carries em. I found a pack at field and stream.. but they had one color. other than that it seems you can't find them unless you shop online. Which Im not a fan of. Quote
