SCkayakfisher Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 What line do you use for Texas rigs and jigs? Can you use the same line for both? Just one sentence of explanation on why you use it would be great. Thanks Quote
Super User scaleface Posted October 17, 2016 Super User Posted October 17, 2016 I mostly use 17 lb test trilene xl clear blue fluorescent . Its strong , flexible , castable, visible and .015 .inches thick . Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted October 17, 2016 Global Moderator Posted October 17, 2016 16# flouro or 65# braid depening on cover. What I tie on doesn't matter. Mike 1 Quote
Super User Catt Posted October 17, 2016 Super User Posted October 17, 2016 Berkley Big Game 15# Mean Green for everything but punching. Berkley Big Game is the highest in abrasion resistant & shock absorption. In the real world those two qualities out weigh every thing else! 2 Quote
riverbasser Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 I use 30lb braid for jigs now. I use to use big game but I can feel so much more with braid. I can also pull most limbs up to the boat if I get hung really good 2 Quote
Super User buzzed bait Posted October 17, 2016 Super User Posted October 17, 2016 i prefer braid for both, 30lb is my go to. if i feel it is needed, i can always tie on a fluoro or mono leader, although i tend to go with 16lb sniper fluoro if needed. 2 Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted October 17, 2016 Super User Posted October 17, 2016 15lb hybrid or 40lb braid for me depending on the situation and what i have rigged on other rods. And just because you said not to put more than one sentence, I am putting this sentence in here lol 1 Quote

That and casting distance is why I almost always choose to run braid. I also like the no stretch qualities it has.. Quote
bigturtle Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 30lb braid with 14-17lb fluoro or mono leader Quote
Super User Team9nine Posted October 17, 2016 Super User Posted October 17, 2016 So many variables, but most frequently 16# straight fluoro for both unless I'm pitching short range (<35'), then 15# or 20# Big Game most times. -T9 Quote
Todd2 Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 Straight braid for both unless you don't like maximum sensitivity. 1 Quote
Super User the reel ess Posted October 17, 2016 Super User Posted October 17, 2016 I use braid, no leader for all single hook presentations. The water has a permanent tea color at best all the time here and the braid helps drive that hook home and adds sensitivity as previously mentioned. 1 Quote
primetime Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 It depends, I use 12-#17 Mono the most on casting gear, 40-50 braid,Spinning - 6-12 Mono, 10-20 lb braid. Fluro Leaders at times. Dia matters more than LB test imo, So many variables, but I go as light as possible. #12 Mono can handle most Fishing except Flipping/Frogging. Quote
Logan S Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 17 or 20 lb flouro for most casting/pitching duties. Flipping, pitching, or punching in heavier grass I'll use 65lb braid. Seaguar Red Label and AbrasX for flouro and original Power Pro for braid. 1 Quote
lo n slo Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 12 lb Sunline fluoro for t rigs on the bait caster Quote
pawpaw Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 Dragging or stroking football jigs I like 30# Spiderwire Flourobraid and 17#-20# abrazx leader. Pitching docks or wood 15#-17# Invizx. Quote
Super User NHBull Posted October 18, 2016 Super User Posted October 18, 2016 10lb braid with 10lb FC leader for almost everything 1 Quote
Molay1292 Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 Currently testing 13lb Sunline Defier Armilo Monofilament. Typically use Seaguar Tatsu or Invisx in 12lb, I like the fact the FC does not have much bow in the line which keeps you in touch with the bait, and has good sensitivity on a controlled slack line fall. 1 Quote
rangerjockey Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 10 or 12lb. Shooter or sniper .Also I like the Sunline flippin FC. It alternates between sections of clear and chartreuse and is easier to see. The lightest it comes is 16lb. and I don't think it handles quite as well as Sniper but the visibility is a plus. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted October 18, 2016 Super User Posted October 18, 2016 15# Big Game. Read about it on this site, and started using it when I couldn't find Yo-Zuri locally. 2 Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted October 18, 2016 Super User Posted October 18, 2016 I run 12 lb Berkley 100% Fluoro for both without issue. Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted October 18, 2016 Super User Posted October 18, 2016 SunlineSuper Sniper FC in #16. Manageable, lower stretch and visibility, good abrasion qualities, addition sensitivity, performance history is very good. 2 Quote
Scarborough817 Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 65lb power pro for T-Rigs and 15lb abraz-x for jigs 1 Quote
