Does anyone else like putting a Rage Craw or Chigger Craw on a shaky head jig? Crawled slowly along the bottom on a heavier jig, it has been one of my best presentations for smallmouth, and pitched into cover on a lighter jig, it is perfect for when the largemouth are not very active.

I didn't do it until this summer, a friend showed me how effective a 4" Chigger Craw can be on a shaky head. I was always a worm guy when it came to shaky heads, then the same friend who taught me the Chigger Craw this past summer showed me how well a beaver and a brush hog work on the shaky head. Those last two were so good I got some larger EWG style hooks to make my  shaky heads with for just those bulkier baits but those were doing something a little different, I'd put them on a shaky head and pitch them to sparse cover with lighter line, usually boat docks or eel grass. The Chigger Craw we used in the same areas as worms and the fish were eating it, I was impressed with how well that worked considering we had a hot day with a tough bite going, the fish didn't want the same chigger craw with a 1/4oz weight flipped and pitched to cover so we went off script and started finesse fishing using the craws on a 1/8oz shaky head with a 3/0 hook and caught fish, great bait for a shaky head.

In practical terms any bait can be rigged on a shakeyhead jig, now to answer your question, yes, I do it, a lot more than I T-rig them, been doing it for a very long time.

If your looking for a real small craw to use on a shaky head look at Big bites 3" craw worm, that thing is tiny but deadly.

One of the deadliest tools in my arsenal for smallies in the rivers, is a Baby Craw on a Shakey head.

craw tubes are fantastic baits that fish do not see all that often. Some of my best fish came this year on a shaky head jig with a creature bait rigged on it and the more appendages the better which is why I like the Chigger craw or Crack Craws as well. The Yum Mighty craw is also a great bait on any jighead and I like to swim em slowly along the bottom, same with a brush hog style bait.

I have gotten away from Texas rigging -It used to be my only option for fishing worms ,tube, lizards etc. The shakey head has become my universal rigging option. I rarely and I mean rarely rig a plastic bait any other way. with so many bait options-the shakey head comes in various/universal hook and weight sizes.-there is no reason to use anything else/

I rig bare craws on jig heads quite a bit. If I'm hopping them and want a more vertical, stand-up presentation I put them on a shaky head and generally give a pretty fast presentation. If I want to drag them on the bottom until recently I have always Texas rigged them. That is until I found the rugby head jigs by vmc. They work the best imo.

Killer rig for river or stream smallies. Smallmouths in general really.

I am hoping to add the shaky head to my list of presentations soon.  I've see a lot with worms in this presentation but wondered if craws would be good.  Glad this topic was posted!

A craw/creature bait has become nearly the only thing that I throw on a shakey head. A rage craw, paca craw, or havoc pitboss are deadly for me especially from postspawn through summer.

Okeechobee colored ;)

Nope, my most productive color is Black Neon!

Craw Worms on Shaky Heads, un-skirted jigs, & Texas Rigs are one of the most over looked lures available.

I always been very serious about my skirted jigs but recently tried a shakyhead craw in its place and had a better catch rate. The other plus is as most know with jigs its always possible for a bass to throw a jig or not get the best hookset but not as often with the shaky head.

Anyway what's your favorite plastic craw that isn't just a trailer? I was using a brush hog and did well. Saw Z-manns punch craw and thought it looked good, the elaztech is also plus. Anyone used it?

I've been doing well with the brush hog on a shakey head. I also like the Zoom ultra vibe speed craw, and Jackal Darts Hog. I only started shakey head fishing a few weeks ago. It sure is fun when the fish are chewing!

I use a lot of the Rage Menace on the shakey head, not sure it is a craw, but it imitates one well, the other bait I use a lot of are the Net Bait baby paca craw.
