my curiosity got the best of me so i called Fenwick and confirmed that it is a Fuji PTS cut down , kinda like how Phenix used to cut down Fuji ACS reel seats and made them into split seats , before the SK2 seats were made available.

I like those.

Hey Scott, have you used one of these? I'm about to pull the trigger on one.

I have not, but I want to.

That top seat reminds me of the seat on my old Berkley Series One Accuflex.

Do those spinning seats have to use an insert like the pts seats?

looking at this, they don't seem to. and their suggested parts lists do not include any type of insert. I plan to order one soon. I'll find out then for sure.

That looks like the seaguide xss seat. Seen here...

Looks very similar to the fuji tvs. I've done some more research but still am confused. I think fuji tvs needs an insert if the blank doesn't fit. Don't now about seaguide xss? Anyone know how much some of the inserts weight?

I thought I read somewhere they were an ounce or two?

op hope I'm not hijacking here.

Use a short arbor in the front and back of the seat and leave the windows open so the blank shows through.

about the Fuji PTS (from Fuji )

Lightweight “blank touch” construction, a smaller trigger, special “three-channel” grooving in the barrel threads for smooth, secure hood travel (and fit) and a wider, flatter base to accommodate the gear box on low profile baitcasters. It “cradles” into the palm of your hand unlike any seat we’ve felt and made “walkin-the-dog” like a walk in the park.

Requires a 17mm OD carbon insert tube (Not Included)

Mudhole sells a carbon fiber tube made for the PTS/TVS reel seats in their CFX series - http://www.mudhole.com/CFX-Carbon-Fiber-Reel-Seat-Inserts
