I've tried a bunch of different rods over the years. Presently, my current favorite is the Cabela's TZXC-69M, a 6'9"Jerkbait/Topwater rod, fast action and rated for 1/4-3/8 oz. Lightweight with great balance, great grips and very affordable -  a tad to the crisp side, but that has turned out to be a good thing in regards to hook ups.

Even though I'm transitioning to all customs, I still have a few off the shelf rods.

I use a Daiwa Tatula 701 MRB for jerkbaits.  IMO this rod is PERFECT.  I've caught a lot of jerkbait fish on it, and the action is superb. I liked it so much I bought another one that I use for chatterbaits, spinners, and small cranks.  Can easily find it under ~100 online.

I'm switching between a Dobyns 704cb and a Shimano Poison Adrena Medium 7'2". I think the Poison has a better snap, and still pins the fish well enough. The Dobyns just feels a little too moderate for me. Although the Dobyns is a little mushy on the jerk, I don't lose many fish with it. I'll probably have both of those with a jerkbait on them for a while before I really make up my mind. One will win out for jerkbaits and the other will be a designated topwater rod.

I use a Dobyn's Champion 685cb for jerkbaits, wish I got a 684cb. Still on the fence about the moderate fast action though.

Trust me, the 684CB is much too soft for jerkbaits. I bought one for jerkbaits, it's now a small squarebill/shad rap rod.

I use two rods for my jerkbait needs.

GLoomis TWR773 - 6'5" MH fast action
St. Croix Avid AV70MF - 7'0" M fast action

I've heard of plenty of people using the 684/5cb or the new 705cb... Even dobyns claims that it's 685cb is the perfect jerkbait rod. I figured I'd give it a go. I've found that it is a perfect squarebill rod though.

Ima Flit, Rapala X-Rap and LC Pointer 90 and 100's is about all I use anymore.  684CB and 704CB  work these baits the way I want.  Personal preference.  I would see a 705CB for 110 and larger baits.  A Stayzee 90 would be a chore with a 4 power though.
