Hey everyone its been awhile since I've posted anything and even longer since I've been fishing! Has anyone fished Clark's Hill, Murray, Marino or Wylie lately? I'm wondering if I've missed the fall bite. I have a Nitro 911 CDC, with an empty backseat I'd anyone would like to go, just pm me or post here.

Ok so I know nothing about this area, being from Mass. but I'm here now and fishing Goose Creek. Water temp before Matthew was 80.5 at 10 am and 82 at 2 pm. When is there a fall bite? How cold does the water get down here and do the fish really turn off? I've fished Pickwick in April and the water was 65 and the Pros do pretty well in February with mid 50s temps. I've also caught a few through the ice so I guess my question is, what differences should I be looking for with how much temp drop? Bosn I believe we've spoken in the past and if I can  pry the wife off the back seat, you'll be welcome in my little Triton.

Typically water cools down into high 50's low 60's. Maybe even warmer there on the coastal plain. The fish here seem to turn on when water cools into mid lower 70's.

No, it stays fall here for a long time. I'm still getting bass on topwaters early. When they stop chasing reaction baits, just fish cover with a worm, jig or craw. You can really do that all winter until the big mamas start feeding up for spawn. Then I usually use a gold Rat L Trap and a black spinnerbait with a black Colorado blade as spring creeps in.

Bos'n, you have not missed the fall bite.  I live on and fish Murray at least a couple times a week.  You have not missed the fall bite here.  In fact, I'd say it really hasn't started as yet.  Our club fished 21 boats yesterday, the winning bag was 14, second 12, third 11.  My partner and I finished 6th with 6lbs.  Several boats did not weigh fish.

Thanks for the responses. I need to get out fishing

The fish are starting to move into the creeks.  We were out for a few hours today, and saw a good bit of schooling fish chasing shad.  We caught several small fish, and one 3 pounder.

Fishing Santee River a lot now. Fish are moving into the creeks, but I am catching bigger fish outside of the mouth close by. Crank baits and plastics are working for me

just saw where they've closed several ramps on Wylie due to low water levels. this happened last summer as well but heavy rains in October restored water levels. not so lucky for us this year across the South.

I'm planning to fish Savannah river in a day or two and Clarks Hill after.
I can report back.
I haven't fished Clarks Hill much this year due to the lake level being low and the extreme heat this summer.
Having said that I caught my personal best this summer at Clarks Hill. Did I mention the heat was brutal.

I can report fishing the Savannah river above lock & dam is great.
I went out for 4 hours and caught about 20 fish.

Getting to Clark's Hill will take longer than I expected but will report back when I go.

I stopped by Clarks Hill today.

Fishing from the shore for just an hour as the sun went down I had bait fish chasing my lure and hung into two fish but didn't get either to shore.

Like a dummy I didn't take off my sunglasses as the sun was almost down and hung into a fish that hit like a freight train close to the shore. He swam violently left-right-left then got loose.

Whatever it was the fish looked about 1.5 feet long and pulled much harder than a fish that size should.

I would say its worth going to the lake to try your luck.

I'll be going back for a full fishing trip when I get the time.
