Hello, I'm new, so take it easy on me...

My father in law bought me an Endura 46 Transom mounted motor for my jon boat.  He didn't know that I wanted a bow mount.  I do not want to return it because it was a Christmas present.  Is it advisable to mount it on the transom and just run it in reverse?  Or, I notice there is a bolt and locking nut attaching the head to the composite shaft.  Can I unscrew it and reverse the head?  I know this will probably void the warranty, but will it work?

Thanks!

I would return it for a bow mount.  THe transom mount will not have any easy way of stowing the motor on the deck and will only be a hassle.  I think what you say would work, but I know I would always wish for something different each time I used that motor.  It would bug the hell out of me.  It's kinda like using the wrong tool for the job.

Thanks for your input!  I dunno what I'm gonna do.  I hate returning gifts, it doesn't feel right.

Why not mount the transom mount on the front of the boat? :-?

That's what I want to do, but a transom mounted motor is not the same as a bow motor, the prop is backwards...

Anyhow, I contacted Minn Kota, and they emailed me back saying that the endura is made to reposition the head so you can bow mount it.

Thanks for the advice guys!
