St. Croix Eyecon. I have a Legend Elite and I find myself using the Eyecon just as much. Great rod for the $

I'm a St. Croix fan. Check out some Premier Series and Mojo Series rods. You've heard of these. A lot of spinning version options. The Avids are great sticks. But not really necessary.  I like the Avid series but don't want to spend your money. If all you've ever fished with were ugly sticks and off wall stuff you will like the Premiers. I'm not dissing ugly sticks and off the wall stuff.  I'm sure bigger fish than I've caught were caught with them. You'll feel the difference. Have fun with your search.

If you can't find a deal on a higher priced rod, check out the Fenwick HMG MLF. Its a great finesse rod and I like it for weightless plastics in open water. If your patient I'm sure you can find a deal on a higher priced rod like the Aetos. I've got two St. Croix Avid for around $100.

You wont find anything nearly as nice as the Aetos on sale right now. It is a much better rod than any of the 100 dollar St. Croix offerings unless you can find an Avid for 100 :)
