papajoe222 Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 This still has a good possibility of happening and I personally think it'd be the best match-up of the teams in the playoffs. Of course, that's providing the Cubs don't let down their fans, again. I wonder who the scapegoat will be this time. oops, sorry about the 'goat' thing Cubs fans. I'm rooting for them to make it to the series and for a seventh game to really make it interesting. 1 Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted October 6, 2016 Super User Posted October 6, 2016 It's an even year....unfortunately the Giants have already won it. 1 Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted October 7, 2016 Super User Posted October 7, 2016 Cubs vs Sox would be great. Sox winning it to keep the Cubs series less for another year would be sweet.. 1 Quote
OCdockskipper Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 If the Cubs do play the Red Sox, they should hire Bill Buckner to sing the National anthem and have Bucky Dent throw out the first pitch. 1 Quote

And it wouldn't matter..that shipped has sailed my friend. The Sox could have Steve bartman and a goat sing the anthem. 1 Quote
Super User MassYak85 Posted October 7, 2016 Super User Posted October 7, 2016 I'm hoping for that matchup too, but the sox dropped their first game so hopefully they can hold on and win this ALDS. Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted October 7, 2016 Super User Posted October 7, 2016 As a baseball and Red Sox fan I would be torn, I'd love to see the Sox win for Ortiz's swan song, but I would also love to see the Cubbies do what the Sox did in '04 and get that ship sailing past the negativity of the "curse"! Super User Dwight Hottle Posted October 7, 2016 Super User Posted October 7, 2016 Don't forget the Red Sox have to get past Cleveland & Toronto first. That might be a handful. 2 Quote

Super User DogBone_384 Posted October 7, 2016 Super User Posted October 7, 2016 You're not watching game 2... Sox are down 4-0 in the 4th inning with David, Mr $1,000,000,+ per start, Price on the mound. Sox' bats are missing too.... If the Sox get eliminated, I'd love to see the Cubs win it all. 1 Quote

5fishlimit Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 Can the title of this be changed once the Indians eliminate the Red Sox? 1 Quote

The Sox are young and this years experience will be a great thing for them no matter how far they get. 1 Quote
papajoe222 Posted October 8, 2016 Author Posted October 8, 2016 One thing about being a Sox fan vs. a Cubs fan, we know they can still get there. Cubs fans would be breaking out their Hawks attire if the Cubs were down 2-0. JT will be singing and I'll be on the edge of my seat in anticipation of another great October comeback. Quote
5fishlimit Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 I find it hilarious that everyone keeps talking about how young the Red Sox are - even the announcers for TBS. Look at the youth on the Indians! Boston screwed up by firing Francona. Cleveland is happy to have Tito back home in Cleveland where he belongs . ? 2 Quote
Torn Thumb Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 Tito is ten times the coach that Farrell is. I wonder if Farrell can take some blame for how bad Toronto was. They seem to be better without him. Quote

When the sox fire Farrell, hopefully after this series loss, he will never get another managerial job again, no way. Quote
Torn Thumb Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 He was a good pitching coach in my opinion. Some people have their place in baseball's coaching system. Some hit a ceiling and think they have to move up to full on coach when they are better suited for the job they excelled at. Like Farrell. 1 Quote

If Ortiz & Pedroia want to go to the World Series this year, maybe they could buy tickets and bring a couple of goats as dates. Wait, would Ortiz get nervous sitting next to someone whose last name begins with PED? Go Cubs!! Quote

OCdockskipper Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 That is a cool photo. If you copy & paste it 8 more times, you could change the club insignia to the Yankees... 1 Quote
