I've looked around online and haven't found much.

The Skeet Reese 1/4-1 7' Jig rod may work. It has Titainium Micro guides. Reviews are mixed. Claims are it casts long. I'll be buying this rod for my brother. He has 3000 and 4000 series Abu SX reels with braid.

Any oponions would be appreciated.

in light cover a medium heavy fast action  7 to 76 would work fine and reel to hold 20 to 30lb braid. In heavy cover I'd say a heavy/fast  action rod 7 to 76 and a reel to hold 40+ pound braid.

My youngest boy used a 6'6" Cabelas Fish Eagle MH spinning rod with Power Pro braid for froggin' before he could use a baitcaster comfortably and he often whupped me. He's still a better frogger than I'll ever be.

I cant' recall one fish lost because he didn't have the power to get it out.  He'd just lean on that rod with everything he had and it never let him down.  More power and length may have made it easier for him but he did just fine with that rod.

i caught this beauty on a Dobyns DX 703 spinning rod just a week or so ago.  was using a 35 size pflueger patriarch and 15lb braid with the spro popper jr.  not fishing the heaviest cover/slop by any means, but a MH or H spinning rod will be no problem for most frog applications.

Very Nice catch! Congrats....

I suppose my biggest concern is the Wright MGgill rod. It seems they aren't that popular and the reviews are just fair because of breakage. I've held a few of the casting rods. I like the blank but not the grip. Super light weight.

I don't have a dedicated frogging rod yet, (I ordered one but it came broken thanks to ups, so I returned it two months ago and still haven't gotten it back) but I use a repaired spinning rod that broke in half and lost a few inches off the tip.  I had a friend who makes custom rods fix it by splicing the two pieces together with a ultra light blank covered with epoxy, which makes it have a very solid back bone with a slightly softer tip perfect for launching junior sized frogs.  I personally prefer to use a spinning rod for frogs when skipping docks, and since that is a huge part of what I use them for i'm gonna stick with spinning rods.  I haven't had any problems with not having enough power to horse the bass out of the muck, but my lake doesn't have ultra thick weeds.

My wife is my main fishing partner. She is extremely capable of using any spinning gear as well as fly fishing gear,  however she hates baitcasters.  After doing a lot of searching I chose an Irod Genesis II IRG IRG713S “Fred’s Power Finesse Rod H”  This is a  Fred Roumbanis design. It has a great tip to throw a frog and plenty of backbone in my opinion. It well balanced and has good components, It retails for $150. I  matched it up with a high speed Shimano Symetre reel. The lpi were almost exactly the same as my 8-2 baitcasters.

I just bought a couple Big Bear spinning rods (3/4H and H) off here for the same thing...  Glad to know there are other people 'nutty' enough to want to just use spinning gear for non-typical things.

I like a MH spinning combo for lighter frogs. Some of mine are too light for BC gear and the Hvy/F 7-3 frog rod.

My avatar is just such a light frog. It happens to be what i caught my PB on.

Okuma makes a micro guide 7' MH 1/4-1 oz. , the Helios mini guide spinning rod

St. Croix has a 7' heavy in the Premier series , it's rated 1/2 - 1 1/2 oz. , might be a little to stout for small frogs but regular frogs it would and should be very good . you can find them at BPS in one piece or two piece .

I'll get a look at them, thx.

I finally did get a look at the Skeet Reese rod. One word to sum it up: JUNK
