fishingrulz Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 good deal? http://www.sportsauthority.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2131689&cp=&kw=bass+boats&parentPage=search me and my bro are looking at throwing in for it and getting it. thing is trolling motors are exspensive aren't they? like thousand dollar expensive. and i don't know how to wire it and we have like $353 bucks so we still have to buy oars and stuff. i was gonna get the pre wired one but i can' and i don't even know if this will happen but now that it is marked down from 460 something i think my chances are better. and i don't have a trailer or hitch so i'm probably gonna be tying this to my roof or putting it in the back of the van. anyone knoe how wide this thing is? thanks a bizzle bunch fishingrulz1234 Quote

JayDub Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 I don't know about that one, but i have an old model that is HEAVY. This thing is not a car topper... you could load it in a truckbed but not put it on a car. Personally... I would save my money and look around some lake neighberhoods for used boats. You can find people that want that "thing" sitting in their yard gone and could buy one for around the same amount as that thing and get a trailer with it. LBH had the great idea to leave notes on every door he saw that had a boat and he said he had tons of responses from people willing to sell. Plus a little jon boat has more room... And a small trolling motor ($130 34lb thrust) can get you around faster and EASIER than rowing. Quote
JayDub Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 LBH got this boat for $400... http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1119359773/0 Quote
DeereRun97 Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 My older brother had one of them boats. His buddy hooked him in the face while casting. HA ;D HA ;D HA. I know its not funny, but if you knew my brother you would be laughing too. Be careful out there! Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted March 21, 2006 Super User Posted March 21, 2006 I have a two man boat like that and there is NO way I would get an 8 ft. for two people. It would be alright for 1, but I have a 11 ft and it's about as small as I would go for 2 people. Maybe 10. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted March 21, 2006 Super User Posted March 21, 2006 8' is too small for one of those things with 2 people in it. Add tackle, battery, rods, small cooler and I'm not sure there'd be room for 2 people. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted March 22, 2006 Super User Posted March 22, 2006 I fish by myself out of an 8' and with all my gear thats all there is room for. I take it out on a few bigger lakes (less than 1000 acres) and you feel like your floating around on a postage stamp. Don't take it out in rough water and stay away from the power boat crowd and you'll be fine. Always recharge your TM battery after each trip. Also make sure you have a PFD and be safe. Quote
BassBird Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Where are you from? Why don't you want a Jon Boat? I could find you a boat for about the same price depending on where you live... Quote

Minuteman Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 You can get a Tracker 1032 for @ $400 New! http://www.trackerboats.com/boat/index.cfm?boat=1882 I have one the same size and I can slide it on top my Cherokee by myself and I had 4 unsuccessful back surgeries. Weighs 80 Lbs, I think and mine is about 46" wide on the roof racks. My brother in-law had it laying beside his garage for over 10 years and gave it to me for free. Quote
Minuteman Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 For what it is worth, don't do what I did. I waited around for years hoping my back would get better and I could get back to work and buy a nice Bass boat. That little jon boat sat around for years even after I knew I could have it for free. Finally, one day I just went and got it, didn't even have any tie down stuff. My brother in-law threw in the roof with no racks and we tied it down with rope for the 30 mile drive home by myself with my free hand out the window holding it from sliding around. It is small and uncomfortable and my son and I whack each other every once in awhile, but I curse myself for not doing it 10 years ago. Quote
