I'm looking to build a cranking rod for those baits that run 10-16ft. and am undecided as to which blank to build on.....RX7 CB70MH  or  RX7 CB70H.  I would think the MH would fit the bill, but I have zero experience with the Rainshadow line.

I have no experfience with either but I have a lot of experience with Rainshadow blanks.  They are consistently rated so are pretty predictable based on their ratings.  Another piece of info that should help you would be the recommended lure weight and line spec.  These deal with power, also.  Since you are dealing with a rod for "casting" then the weight to be casted should be considered.  Try to keep your intended casting weights well inside the rod's recommended lure weight.

If your boat or storage area will allow I would go up at least 6 inches longer. If I was sitting or fishing from the bottom of the boat instead of a casting deck, I would get the longest comfortable rod for longer casts. RS makes a blank to 8 ft. in your series. Rod balance isn't a concern on rods fished with a lowered tip, lure drag negates the tip weight. I use a rear grip length of 8 - 9 inches max. Rod blank in front of the hand improves casting and fishability, everything behind the hand especially if solely for balance is only a graphite stick.

The MH will probably be fine, similar power to the St Croix MHM cranking sticks.

As said you should be fine with the MH.
The RX7 lineup of crankbaits has been rolled into the Revelation lineup now – but I’m sure there’s plenty of RX7’s out there. They’re the same action and power as before.

It’s a great blank that’s been a standard with a lot of pros.

Joe, unless you plan to throw a 10XD, or something similar, a MH will do what you want.

The Rainshadow Revelation blanks are really nice for the price. You will like one.

Thanks for the quick replies. I've been looking to add a MH cranking rod as I already have a Med. And a MH that is closer to a Hvy power that I use for the deep stuff. Got a deal on this blank and a ISWB 945

i have an ISWB 945 , i extended the handle making it 8'7'' and is now my dedicated catfish rod , i don't know what you have planned for it but is great for catfish !

I'd go with the heavy personally. The MH makes a better 10 ft and under / square bill rod imo. The RX7 CB blanks are the best cranking blanks I've used.
