CybrSlydr Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Since wearing a PFD is an important part of fishing on the water, has anyone used one of these or seen it? It's called the UFloat and is Coast Guard approved. Looks like it'd be great for fishing as there's no restriction of arm motion since it's essentially upside-down. Obviously, you look a bit of a goober since it looks like a giant diaper, but... Seems like a good idea! https://theufloat.com/products/ufloat-uscg-type-v-pfd?variant=16952248069 Quote
Super User Darren. Posted October 5, 2016 Super User Posted October 5, 2016 LOL...not sure I'd be cool with wearing a PFD diaper when trying to kayak fish!! 4 Quote
S. Sass Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Well you are in a kayak, cant be to much more humiliating. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I'M JOKING!!!! Yakers don't get your panties in a wad. 2 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 5, 2016 Global Moderator Posted October 5, 2016 I do that with a regular life jacket to float around when it gets hot out. I've even fished while floating like that. It's not the most comfortable thing. I'd take an inflatable way before I'd wear that thing. Quote
VolFan Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 I have my doubts about that thing being able to float you face up if you're unconscious in the water, due to basic physics. So no, I'd leave that one to a plaything. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted October 5, 2016 Super User Posted October 5, 2016 I'm more interested in a PFD that will float me face up and keep my head out of the water if I'm unconscious. That thing doesn't look like it will do that. I'll go with the tried and true PFD that has the bulk of the flotation on your chest with a flotation collar behind your head. I'm not quite old enough to use Depends, yet. 3 Quote
Super User Ratherbfishing Posted October 5, 2016 Super User Posted October 5, 2016 Kinda looks like a bullet proof pair of depends. Good to have if some jealous husband comes after you. 1 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted October 5, 2016 Super User Posted October 5, 2016 That isn't gonna save you if you're knocked unconscious, which is the main point of wearing a PFD, in my opinion. 1 Quote

jr231 Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Just imagine how jealous your woman would be if she seen me wearing one of those. 1 Quote
DrMarlboro92 Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Flotation diapers are more of a recreation thing and are realy more designed with the idea of weak swimmers using them. Leave life saving devices to traditional pdfs or inflatable ones, you need something that will keep your head up if you are unconscious. Quote
