Gilgamesh Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Just got 2 of these by accident in my LTB last month. Does anyone have some good stories? Do you use a trailer on them? Thanks Quote
Super User MIbassyaker Posted October 3, 2016 Super User Posted October 3, 2016 Yes, I have a story. I got one in an MTB over a year ago. Had no idea what to do with it. I noticed it was very light. It said on the package that it sinks slowly. So I knew I could not fish it like a regular jig. The one I got was white with black mottling on the back, reminded me of a crappie. I put a white fluke on there as a trailer. Now it really looked like a crappie. I threw it in a plano box and forgot about it. 2 weeks later, I'm out on a lake. It's been 3 hours. Nothing. No topwater bite. no texas rig bite. no keitech bite. No wacky senko bite! On a whim I pulled out the zero gravity jig with the fluke and tied it on, started working it like a soft jerkbait but REALLY slow...let it fall, jerk, jerk...let it fall some more.....Bam! got hit on the first cast. And the next three casts. Turns out the only thing they wanted was something with the bulky profile of a jig, but with the action of a dying baitfish. Maybe it looked like a dying crappie. dunno, but it worked. By then I had to go, though. went home and immediately put together a small TW order to get a few more. Perfect example of a bait I didn't know I needed until I had one. I don't fish them often, but they're absolutely worth having - -you never know when you'll need it, and even when you do need it, you won't know it until you try it. 4 Quote
Gilgamesh Posted October 3, 2016 Author Posted October 3, 2016 (edited) @Mlbassyaker Very interesting! I slapped on a 5" KVD caffeine shad, and it looks pretty good! Only thing I'm worried about is that the profile might be too big. Any thoughts? Edited October 3, 2016 by Gilgamesh pic Quote
Preytorien Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Its one of the only lures that the FIRST time I ever used it I caught some incredible bass for my waters. I fish it just like a soft plastic. Mine was in the natural/green/brown color. I fished it with a Rage Craw trailer and without. Both were successful. I think I know what I'll be reaching for when these waters start cooling, I can see this as a good late fall choice. Quote
