My Swim Jig Arsenal

It isn't much, but it serves me well. Any tips for the trailer on the big one?  Post your own favorite swim jigs

I used to catch a lot of numbers on bladed jigs and swim jigs with paddle tail trailers. 

I switched to 6" Mogambo grubs for trailers. My numbers went way down, but when I do get a bite now it's good, really good. The big grub slows down the fall rate by about half and I get about half of my bites on the fall now. 

If you're cool with three hundred casts for two fish it's worth a try!

You'll never hear that in a sales pitch lol.

Nothing wrong with those trailer setups. I also use grubs and flukes and another plastic called a subwoofer( can't remember brand)

Just make sure everything on the back of them is either a keitech swing impact fat or a zoom ultravibe speed craw!

The Subwoofer is in the Berkley Havoc line.

I picked up some lure parts online bill lowen backstroke swim jigs heads. Paired them with some dirty jigs skirts. I stick to pure white, white/chart, and blk/blue/purple. 

I like 1/4 size paired with single tail grub. For a bigger bite I'll go to keitech, skinny dipper, paca chunk etc.

LFT magic shad are pretty good trailers ....

Here are my go to's.  For bigger swim jigs I like the fat impacts, for a smaller profile I like either a grub or a subwoofer, or a small craw

I used to like the keitech but got tired of going through too many and at that price. Switch to gambler little ez and will not go back, they are much tougher, and have a side-to-side rolling wobble  to them that just gets bit more. try the copper field on the blue gill swim jig and you'll like it.

I've been having some good luck on it in some local waters around in southwest MO. I've got some other colors that have been killer on table rock.

Swim jigs have been my favorite lures this year. I have used the Revenge 1/4oz in orange chameleon and I have a handful of jigs from C+C that are, I believe, 3/8oz. They're versatile baits that can imitate any range of things. I put a Zoom UV Speed Craw on my bluegill colored baits but still need to pick up something like a Speed Shad for the white ones.

The Strike King rage Tail shad look amazing on the back of a chatter or swim jig. I'd like to say it works, but the fish on my local water seem to neglect the fact that winter is coming, and they have a serious case of lock jaw. The shad looks great to me! I know if I can get on the fish some day when they're in a biting mood, it will work well.

I dropped down to 3/8 ounce swim jig and the smaller Rage swimmer trailer.Spots and Smallies have been tearing them up.The KVD magic color has been doing really well.

My idea of swim jig had always been 1/2oz jigs with 4+ inch paddle tails thrown 30+ yards in mostly open water.  Still great bait much of the time.

 

But after watching a show where Jason Christie was pitching 1/4oz swim jigs with small chunks into shallow, muddy weed edges, my world of swimming jigs expanded exponentially.  That was trig or conventional jig territory for me before...but now pulling smaller jigs through light grass without ever hitting the bottom has been a great new tool for me.
